Re: idle and shift problems...please help

Sounds like a crack in the plastic intake piping. Check the ribbed section for hairline cracks. Use some duct tape if you find any, this makes a great temporary fix.
The second issue with shifting doesn't sound related to the first. Could be clutch, slave cylinder, shifter linkage, tranny fluid,syn...

Re: Low RPM after intake install

Yes
Mine has always idled at 400-500 once warmed up, at least since I purchased it new in 93.
it will occasionally dip down low when depressing the clutch pedal, but never stalls, and only for an instance.
Andy P. 93 GS

Re: high idle

Yes, hooking the coolant lines back up to the throttle body should return your idle to normal. It is possible to improve your idle with the tb bypass but making it perfect seems to be very illusive. I think even Dave had to learn to live with a little fluctuation in his idle with the tb bypass.
...

Re: Can't Shift into 5th gear

If the bushing is gone as you say there would be alot of side to side play in the shifter, like 10-12 inches. The missing bushing could cause that problem but I find it hard to believe that the shop would not have fixed that also. They should have taken it for a test drive at which point they would ...

Re: ..Wont Start..!

Your question, if that is a question is kinda confusing. Did the car turnover for you but not start? What was the voltage at the battery? What method did you use to check for a spark?
If the car has no spark and is turning over normally my first guess w...

I don't have a clue as to what the "vents" are that your mechanic is refering to.
How much is to much to fix it?
Drive it til it drops, and keep a close eye on the oil level or get another mechanics
opinion.
good luck
Andy P. 93...

It could restore lost torque if you had none at all due to a really bad cv joint :D
Andy P. 93 GS

Re: CV Joints ... polling question

A cv is just a cv. There is no added horsepower or torque with different cv joints. One might have a better quality, relating to the fit and function of the mechanical parts but this won't translate into more torque or hp.
Andy P. 93 GS

Was that a question or simply a statement?
You have already asked about the blue smoke and I have read all the answers and some of them were very good.
You on the other hand have not answered our questions. How many miles are on the current engine? what kind of maintenance has the car had? d...

The car looks good from the picture but can't tell the mechanicals from it.
The add says 1993 GS but I thought all the GS models came with a V6.
The 4 bangers are all show and no go unless you plan on adding or swapping.
Find out about the maintenance history.
Andy P. 93 GS
