high idle

Post by cashmoneyspeed »

I just finished installing a set of phenolic spacers, a little port matching, and throttle body bypass. I have tried to adjust my idle down from the current 1,200 Rpm with the adjusting screw under the TB and with the adjustment on the throttle cable. It still idles @ 1200 rpm and in drive it's at 1000 rpm. Should i hook up the coolant lines back to the TB?

i dont think it will...i think its idling high because of all that extra velocity and air coming in. with the phenolic spacers and port matching. well this is to my knowledge...i could be wrong. maybe your idle screw is busted.

Yes, hooking the coolant lines back up to the throttle body should return your idle to normal. It is possible to improve your idle with the tb bypass but making it perfect seems to be very illusive. I think even Dave had to learn to live with a little fluctuation in his idle with the tb bypass.
Its a sacrifice some are willing to make.
Andy P. 93 GS

to put your car in diagnostic mode you have to get a jumper wire or something to hook up to pin 10 and the grnd pin on the diagnostic box between the firewall and your battery. its fairly simply. hope this helps. oh yeah there is a diagram on the inside of the cover letting you know which pin is 10 and wich is ground.

How did you adjust the Tps? I think it has adapted a little more since driving it. It idles at 1200 - 1400 rpm in the morning 50-60 degrees, but drops to about 900 when warmed up and sometimes down to 700 after i get on it an come to a stop light rather quickly.
