Re: Improved handling

Nylon suspention bushes made a worthwhile improvement on my VW, I haven't tried them on my MX3 yet. On the VW I noticed that it was way more stable in higher speed corners. If you use them be sure to use pleanty of the special greese or they will squeek. Lower braces help a lot too, if they are avai...

Re: Better acceleration past 4000rpm?

Short stroke engines tend to do that, they can rev and provide lots of top end power but you don't get so much down low. The way the vris flaps work, you actualy get worse torque at 3700 than at 3400 which tends to exagerate this.

Re: PINK POWA update...

A couple of cautions yo umay or may not have thought of. Don't just make the ports bigger as this tends to slow the gas down and loose low end, shape is more important. The theory on valves I think is that because the exhast is under lot of pressure when it leaves, it will do so. More effective use ...

Re: Codes

Have you checked the online manual, I love that thing BTW, a real manual for a change, unlike those Haynes jobs, that whenever you find what you need to know it tells you to take your car to a mechanic because they assume it'll be over your head. This one is a real Dealer one that actualy gives you ...

What Fuel Mileage?

Just wondering if a few people could quote some real life fuel usage for their cars, I'm thinking mine might be a bit heavy. I've found that I get 400 Km per tank (35K after the light comes on, or 42-3 L and 11 US gal) combo City/Hwy Pure Hwy up to 500 Km at either 115 Km/h or 130 Km/h, it doesn't s...

Re: Engine light

I too have a 94 v6 with check engine light that comes off and on, mine is the EGR position sensor and the Intake air temp. sensor. Haven't fixed it yet though, but being a similar age it could be that there is a weakness there. It really needs to be checked as suggested above though, or shell out an...

Re: Thumping/knocking sound

The stabilizer and mounts are okay and it's a repetitive boom, boom, boom, which I wouldn't think you would get from a stabilizer. The wheel bearings were replaced 3500 Km ago and it did the noise before that, I'm wondering if it could have had a damaged hub or something that they missed when doing ...

Re: please help, wanna keep my mx-3, but not like this!!

I think the first thing you need to do is get a new Mechanic, a bonehead that goes replacing parts without proper testing doesn't deserve $0.50 per hour. That sounds like a story from backyard Joe next door that usualy works on lawnmowers, not a certified Mechanic!

Hi, I found some more info on fluids on a site for a Chrysler that had weak sycromesh from day one on all of them, so I am posting part of it incase anyone else is running into a similar problem.<P>"Many DSMers end up using Redline MTL, BG Synchroshift or GM Synchromesh in their transmissions. ...

Thumping/knocking sound

Here is the scoup. V6 94, There is this thumping/clunking sound that I get usualy when accelerating around a left hand bend, but sometimes also in a straight line or turning right, although not as bad as in a left hander, sometimes even just a vibration in a straight line. I thought it was probably ...

Re: Front Strut bar installation

I think they do that so that it has a better chance of fitting all cars, I bought a VW lower bar for my VW GTi I used to have and it had oval holes. It went in okay, and there was never any sign of movement. Transformed the handling too.

Re: HEEELLLPPP!!!

A couple of ideas... one thing I did wrong once on a car was to go the wrong way around the dist. cap ie. counter clockwise instead of clockwise or vise versa. It was a four banger, so two cylenders were right two wrong, so it ran on two. The hiss sounds like you have a real bad vacuum leak, try get...

Re: Engine seems to be getting hot??????

Was the oil on the plug on the outside of the plug or on the part that goes in the combustion chamber? It seems odd that oil from a valve cover would get right inside the engine, if it is getting inside, I'd say you are looking at more serious problem. I had a different car once that blew a hole in ...
