Re: v6 but not preformance question

The point of the turbo to get better fuel economy is basically to help move a bigger mass with a smaller motor. For example, my cousin is building a turbo 2.3 for his 84 mustang. Even though is has a larger T3 turbo, is bored 30 over and fully built, no one can argue that it will not get better fuel...

Re: Need Help doing My 1.8L BPTGTR swap into my 93 MX3 1.6L SOHC

You'll need the proper BP distributor, you should be able to find an escort GT one easy enough, if you try to use the 1.6 you'll throw a CEL code and the car will go into limp mode. Is the g series trans you have awd or just fwd? The axles and half shaft you can get out of an escort GT as well if it...

Re: BP engine weight

When I went to get my BP, I unbolted my passenger side seat , pulled up next top the engine and lifted it into my car. There's no way I could lift it in and out of my car if it was 500lbs. It was kinda interesting driving home like that, for a little while my car had 8 cyls, haha.

Re: 1.6 sohc distributor

There isnt much at all for the 1.6 sohc except plugs, wires, cone filter, coil. If you are looking for power, you are better off swapping in a BP. 40hp for around $500 for the swap is better than spending roughly $200 for a cam that will get you maybe 5-10hp.

Re: K8/KL hybrid possible?

It all makes sense except why the person before me used a KL02 vaf in it, or can you get a bit more power at WOT using it?

K8/KL hybrid possible?

I was replacing my water pump today and I've noticed a few things that seemed odd to me. My timing belt is stamped KL01, I have a KL01 dipstick, there was a KL02 vaf installed when I bought the car and the timing belt plastics are stamped KL01. The car ran pretty rich with the KL02 vaf to the point ...

Re: BP engine weight

I believe the BP is around 150-175lbs but I'm pretty sure it is closer to 150.

Re: Help Car teouble

It sounds like the initial drop off is because of the larger intake, I think people usually go for 2.5" tubing for 4 cyls. I had a similar issue when I made a short ram intake on my 323 a while ago and I just advanced the timing a bit on the distributor and adjusted the idle screw so that I was...

Re: CEL Code 3?

Try following the wires on the distributor and seeing if there's any bare wire and also clean the grounds, they can cause alot of problems with these cars. There's one that bolts to a small bracket on the trans that can cause alot of trouble, the easiest way to fix that one is to bolt it directly to...

Re: New guy with a 95

The Mazda B6 Dohc is the same for the mx3 and the miata, but if you are planning on going turbo, you'll want less compression, not more. Ideally you wouldnt want to go over 9:1 if you are going turbo so that you have more room for air from boost. Mazda factory turbo engines are around 8.2:1 or at le...

Re: how can i figure out exactly what engine i have

The 1.8L v6 is the K8, if you look in by the injectors to the back head you should see a stamping K8 101, then that is a K8 for sure.

Re: Probably doing ATX B6 SOHC TO MTX BP

It's a 2nd gen BP from a 95-98 pro, that's the 2nd gen intake and the 2nd gen uses a different style distributor which you can see in the pic and most of the sensors were redesigned as well. They just swapped on the old style valve cover but the motor itself is the same as the 1st gen so you could s...

It looks like a 2nd gen BP, possibly running obd2.

Re: Probably doing ATX B6 SOHC TO MTX BP

You are better off using the ford engine harness, it isnt that bad to swap out once the engine is out of the way and is alot better than trying to splice in what wires you need to the mx3 harness. You are also going to need to swap over some motor and trans mounts, I believe the front and driver's s...

Re: WTB: KLDE ecu and damaged front lip

The brackets and mounting holes are still there, it looks like it was almost a clean break. I bought the car with only the passenger half of the front lip and there is only 1 mx3 gs here in the junkyards and the lip is gone.
