Re: Probably doing ATX B6 SOHC TO MTX BP

Oh man, that thing looks raced and riced.

I'd beware of it... but then again.

how much are you paying for that thing? I wouldn't go for more than 500 if I'm just stripping and scrapping it.

You need, that I know of, for sure:

escort engine/tranny/alternator
escort digital speedo sensor and cable and a different cluster (you have a mechanical one)
escort axles, halfshaft and hubs
escort shifter linkage
escort ecm

If your disty has a 4 wire plug you're golden. just need to change the fuel rail harness from a 6 plug to 8 plug and run a VICS wire to a new pin on the ECM (easy) and the rest will plug in.

You'll also need about 3 feet of... 11/16? fuel hose to make the ford rail work.

I don't think I came across anything else. It was simple.

Have you considered a rebuild, or at least a refurbish?

To somewhat check condition of motor, listen to it, smell it, check oil and coolant levels/colours, peek into the head via oil cap and look for varnish (golden) or sludge (black)

You are better off using the ford engine harness, it isnt that bad to swap out once the engine is out of the way and is alot better than trying to splice in what wires you need to the mx3 harness. You are also going to need to swap over some motor and trans mounts, I believe the front and driver's side mounts are the same but the rear trans and passenger side motor mount are different. If you can, do a compression test on the motor and find out when or if the timing belt has been last changed. If the motor has been properly maintained, then it should be fine. I believe a B8 fuel rail does fit on the bp, swapping out the injectors is alot better then having to add to a fuel line to make the ford one work. If you are relatively mechanically inclined, in should take less than a day to complete the swap.

It's a 2nd gen BP from a 95-98 pro, that's the 2nd gen intake and the 2nd gen uses a different style distributor which you can see in the pic and most of the sensors were redesigned as well. They just swapped on the old style valve cover but the motor itself is the same as the 1st gen so you could swap in older sensors, use an 1st gen distributor, harness and ecu and it'll run the same if you wanted to do the extra work or just use everything it has now.
