Re: Hard Shifting and Sputtering
I had issues with my idle fluctuating before I changed the water stat and pump. My idle is normally around 1500...No problems with it, so it hasn't concerned my so far...Hard shifting might be as simple as bushings on your shifter, may be tranny, so take a look at All your linkages between shifter a...

Re: 1.8 DOHC flywheel
The only consistently argued issues on here have been (seemingly) minor wiring issues.

So much over a badge. I'l GIVE my badge if you want it, and are willing to pay for -mail-.
I have the '92 badge, don't really care if it stays because I'm gonna design some graphics for the hood and fenders anyway.

In that case you're probably talking exactly about belts sqealing. Have you had soemone stand and watch the engine on startup? You might just have some cold-A$$ pulleys that don't want to grab until they're good and ready.

You can find them on Ebay too, but as usual, buyer beware.
Make sure you're getting everything you need.

Symptom...Unusual tranny noise
Alright fella's. Has anyone had experience with unusual noise coming from their tranny when it's cold? I want to say grinding, but it's not quite like that (more like the sound of loose ice in the wheelwells rubbing on the tires), and it only does it until the car warms up to a good running temperat...

Re: Advice needed
Expecting those kind of numbers, you should go with the BPT. You won't have to worry about crap breaking, and you have enough to push it further in the future.

Re: Advice needed
Now THAT is a pickle...For the price of a BPT swap you could probably do a turbo setup.
Think about what kind of HP you want to make, and then consider the numbers you start with.
I think the B6 and BPT make 105-110 and 180-210 (T-chrged), so figure your costs from there.

Re: Cams without boost?
Haha, after the last post I went out to Sunoco to fill up cause I wasn't sure of the octane but I know they're higher than any other station. I find that if I have any problems with the idle, etc. that if I top it up on 94 with a bottle of injector/system cleaner and take it for a 'spirited' run, my...

Re: 5-Lug
Actually I was thinking it would be pretty unique to pimp-out an MX3 with a little set of spoked-potatoe peelers and some white walls, maybe a custom Barrittz-style spare glassed into the hatch and a set of air bags to hold it up.
(joking, but it would be different...Nachos vs. Rice).
