The car suspension is stock, tires and rims are stock. The car looks factory stock. If it weren't for the wastegate dumping you wouldn't know something was up under the hood. I don't have any imediate plans to dyno the 1.8 until I get a megasquirt and intercooler installed. I know for sure that righ...

we took the crankshaft sensor of and its a little discolored and has a scratch on it will that change its performance!? No, the sensor is a magnetic pick up, it will not be affected by scratches or discoloration. The part about "dying on me after it gets to normal operating temp" is still ...

I consider the 1.8 a learning tool. I won't blow it up on purpose but I am new to the FI world. Besides everything I have on the motor would bolt right up to the 2.5. 1: What are you using for fuel and spark control? I have an 8:1 vortech FMU, 220 cc injectors. I have plugged the vacuum on the stock...

I am the original purchaser of a 93 GS, bought in late 93 for $15,000.
the car had less than 25 miles on it and most of that was driving it from one dealer to the one I was at. Current mileage is a little over 160,000 and still going strong.

The GS models came with front and rear disc brakes.
The RS models had drums in the rear.

Make sure you don't overtighten the clamps at the VAF. "the vaf makes a noise like if its gasping for air when i rev it " That is if you have a cold air intake. People on Probetalk have had this problem for years. overtightened clamps bind the VAF and you will loose power. Its just one mor...

well your right, read it wrong. I thougt idle failed and run test passed.

About the TPS, what I was saying is you should set both at the same time in order for it to be the most benefit, timing and TPS. If he hasn't done that yet I'm suggesting he does.

Back when florida did emision testing I learned a few things about helping a car pass when maybe it shouldn't. first off, double check that you properly set the timing to 10 deg. and the tps to the fan off method, which I believe is less than .5v. tune up which you have already done. new air filter....

There's a good chance its a crack in the intake piping. Check the plastic ribbed section just before the throttle body for hairline cracks. When you accelerate or make sharp turns the crack opens slightly and causes the symptoms you describe. If and when you find a crack the imediate fix is to wrap ...

oil pressure switch= standing in front of the car, the oil pr.sw. is on the left side of the engine block just above and a little to the left of the oil filter. Unless the radiator is out of the car its going to be easier to get to it from under the car. I would recomend not waiting to long to repla...

try going thru the TPS adjustment procedure. that adjustment can make a small difference in the way the car accellerates. Also set the base timing and idle adjustments. You could also have the beginings of a crack in the plastic ribbed intake just before the TB. TPS= Throttle position sensor. Andy P...
