what year and where u from

well it's a 93 1.6 sohc and im from canada

i believe they gave me an estimate for a used motor obviously but i have no idea what kind or how much mileage. That's definitly something i'd look into before going any further. And oh yeah... how much are Volkswagons to fix ...

worth fixing???

well i got my engine checked due to the previous overheating and what not and they told me i need a new engine, and a new clutch

the estimated cost for this is 3000$ since they charge me 1000$ for labour

Anyone here think it's worth fixing?

I won't be able to get any money for this thing since ...

well im pretty sure that my 1.6 sohc is fried and im looking to buy a new engine. nothing too expensive, i'd basically like to get another 1.6 sohc with somewhat little mileage on it. Im not looking for anything bigger then that because my life style requires me to travel alot so i'd like to keep ...

yeah i have the same problem with mine, but this was a result of overheating it a couple times. I was told by a mechanic that my head gasket was F*cked.

ok i don't know if you all have the same setup as i do, but in order for me to take the alternator belt off, i need to take another belt off first, not sure what the belt is called though, dont know much about cars. Any way around this?

I tried lossening that belt even sprayed it to eat up the rust and I cant get it loose.. is there any other way? to get the belt to stretch a bit? I tried to get the power steering belt on but that doesnt want to seem to go on either.. and I can push the pump down pretty far the hoses are holding ...

if it smoke or leaks compression it could be the head gasket or head, the car would also lack power. if it smokes what colour is the smoke

so yeah, about a month ago, my engine overheated as some of you may know since i posted something about it a while back. I wasn't able to start it for a month than the other day i try and start it and it actually starts, but, my rpm and temperature gages go up on their own without me even pressing ...

are you sure it's rubber not oil, cause in my car you can smell burnt oil after you accelerate from a stop. but the exhaust isn't blue like it's burning oil. Don't know where the smell is coming from

well if i were you i'd get that checked, because the more i drove the worst the smell got then ...

Why would you try and start it?... please don't, you're just creating more problems internally... which just leads to more money having to be spent.

You probably seized a bunch of bearing, maybe even welded a few things together... definately cooked all the seals in your engine. If you get that ...

wow don't i keep running into problem after problem, I just get my alternator fixed, now today i go out on the road for a couple hours and my engine overheats, everthing locks. I have to let the car cool down for like 30 minutes before i can drive it for another 15 to 20. And after about 10 minutes ...
