engine overheating
engine overheating
wow don't i keep running into problem after problem, I just get my alternator fixed, now today i go out on the road for a couple hours and my engine overheats, everthing locks. I have to let the car cool down for like 30 minutes before i can drive it for another 15 to 20. And after about 10 minutes, the more i press down on the acceleration pedal, the louder this clicking noise gets, than a few minutes after that my hood is steaming, steam is coming out of my valve cover and out of my RAD. Any ideas? Am i fuked?

Since you just got your alternator fixed i'm going out on a limb and saying one of yours belts got messed up in the process. belt starts slipping, radiator stops running, engine heats up insanely fast. Not good. As long as you didn't rev too crazy I doubt there is much damage. New belts and a flushing and filling of the radiator should fix it.

I'm thinking that since the alternator belt is also the water pump belt, that something happened to your water pump and it wasn't circulating the coolant.
I think you have major problems. First off when your engine overheats, your head will warp. The steam coming out of your valve cover will prove that. Driving it again, now that's bad... shoulda just left it on the side of the road and called a tow truck.
You musta cooked your head and now you need to rip it off and hopefully it's not overcooked to the point that it's overwarped and unable to be reface/planed.
Better talk to your mechanic who replaced your alternator.
PS. Next time it overheats... shut it off quick!

Well i went to check on my car this morning, tried to start it, and i can't start it anymore. Great. There's life, you hear it trying to start and all just no ignition. I know it'll depend on what exactly is wrong with my car but how much do you figure it will cost to have this fixed? A friend of mine said that he had a similar problem, it was a head gasket problem and it cost him about 1000$ for repairs.

Why would you try and start it?... please don't, you're just creating more problems internally... which just leads to more money having to be spent.
You probably seized a bunch of bearing, maybe even welded a few things together... definately cooked all the seals in your engine. If you get that one rebuilt make sure they change every rubber seal.
You might even be better off to just get a junkyard engine and swap that out... might be cheaper than getting that one rebuilt.
