Re: overheating / radiator

If no visible cooling sys leaks are detected, agree that sudden onset of chronic overheating usually = thermostat is stuck shut. Flush and fill w/fresh coolant when replacing the thermo and bet you'll be good to go.

Re: Is it just me?

Yup, slowin a bit cuz there are fewer MX-3's (and owners) out there. Plus the warmer months mean other stuff going on in ppl's lives too. For me, I have other seasonal commitments that make it tough squeezin in time to work on the rides right now, let alone surfin the board. That'll change as cold w...

Agree and the distributor problem is a known one on the GS. If an HEI mod is not your desire, then replacing the distributor is likely what you'll end up doing.

Re: Interesting Problem

Recommend getting a 4-wheel alignment check. My MX-6 behaved that way, only on wet pavement and then it was scary-bad handling. Turned out it needed an alignment was all.

Besides working on older rides, including the MX-3, playing the sax, cycling, sailing, and 2 months ago started hang gliding.

Can't keep up with the time demands for DIY car maintenance so replacing the old rides with sumpin newer and keeping the MX-3. :welder:

Re: Overheat, Brake Shake, Worst Car Enthusiast Ever.

Simplest, cheapest, and most common cause of chronic overheating is low coolant level followed by a thermostat that needs replacing. If coolant level is not the prob, you can ck the thermostat by removing it and placing in a pan of heating water with a cooking thermometer to ck temp at which the the...

Re: What is this Metal piece (on my rear struts)

Yah, to fix the rattling (and for safety) definitely need to grow a pair of 14mm nuts and put em on those exposed stud threads. They're what holds the strut mounts to the car body.
