I think it's totally awesome. I've seen several conversions that retained the stock manual transmission. It's really just up to the preference of the owner. Some do, some don't. He's right. I read "rear bushing" and in my head I thought rear suspension but you're clearly talking about the rear bushing on the front Lower Control Arm.

The auto and mtx diffs are different widths so the length of the axels are different. The Escort and MX share front hubs and tranny's so it's possible that the axel would interchange but I bet that the length is going to be slightly different. Thought the Mx-3 had a wider track? wider...narrower......
