gude will redo the top end and your ecu for i think like 1500 for the 1.6l. thats what i'm planning on doing once i get the cash. you'll get about an extra 45 horses with the same gas mileage.

wild guess could it be something stupid with the blend door? i know in most cars its a pain in the a-- to get too but they are usually super easy to fix once you do get to them.

my engine started making a similar noise took it to like 5 or 6 shops. they said everything was fine and normal. then my engine completely died. haven't torn apart the old engine to see what it was though.

grab a micrometer or ruler and take some measurements down to a speed shop would be my guess if you can't find a site that has them all ready or check out ford sites they both use the same engine.

yea just get everything port and polished in stead. although i saw a video on you tube the other day where they used a leaf blower to do it on a dyno and they got like an extra ten horses but i've never seen any real documentation helping these out

that sounds very adventurous. I'm guessing it will be cheaper and less of a headache just to fix it instead of bypassing it. random guesses would be adjust the idle screw, the idle air screw that's on the throttle body, unplug your ecu for a little while and let it reset it self and maybe get a new ...

yea just got done doing this i would use the drain cock first otherwise its gonna splash everywhere. even using the drain cock its gonna splash pretty good so either take your time or have a bug bucket.

yea it turns out i had the cable too tight so even though it was shutting it still thought it was open so make sure there's some play in there when if you adjust one

yea that's what i thought at first. so I got some graphite and lubed up the throttle cable and i also got a bottle of throttle body cleaner but it still does it

I'm assuming its an automatic throw in a five speed. if your gonna swap the engine it wouldn't be that much more work.

they have auxiliary alternators that you can buy just for this reason not sure all the details on them or anything but i know I've seen em before. might be worth looking into
