Oh, okay, then you definitely have something wrong with the coolant system. Hopefully it's just a sensor or two.

That's strange about the key, don't know what to tell you about that.

As for the fan, the important thing is the temperature guage. If the engine's running hot, then you might have a problem. If not, don't worry about it.

Well, it sounds like there's more wrong with the car than just the belt(s). However, it still might not be anything major (O2 sensors, for example, can screw up milage and power, clogged fuel injectors can mess things up). But it's your call. Maybe someone here might take it off your hands and get i...

Exact same thing happened to me -- and again it turned out to be a cheapass belt. I bought the best one I could find, and haven't had a problem since. Are you using any belt squealing spray, or spray of any kind? If you're using too much, that might be causing problems -- it basically softens the be...

Which belt is squealing? The alternator belt or power steering belt? And how much are you tightening the alternator belt? How loose does it feel? What's the test -- being able to twist the belt till it's at a 90 degree angle but no more? I can't remember. If the belt's not already too tight, you cou...

I notice none of the colors say anything bad.

What color says, "you're a frickin' moron with no taste, bad breath and a tiny you-know-what."

Thinking of turning manual roll-up windows into power windows. Someone told me it shouldn't be too difficult -- apparently the wires are already in place.

Okay, not much of a mod project, but it's all I have!

You all should touch it before you fill the tank with gas. The zap can ignite the gas. So why risk your precious by not touching this awesome button? :D
"Your precious?"

You mean your life, or your car?

I live in a duplex.. so I can sympathize with you on having a place to work on stuff.. Though I have a carport that is handy.. my truck has been sitting lifeless in it for almost a year now.. (New engine being built) And since the truck is there.. no place to work on my car.. so I hit up friends LO...

Holy crap, that's brilliant. Here I was about to ask what the hell I can do about the massive buildup of static I get everytime I'm in the car -- I always get a sharp zap when I touch the outside door panel -- when I come across this thread. I'd asked a few mechanics in the past what those "tou...

No sweat.. the light is also apparently on some sort of timer circuit.. It remains lit for about 30 seconds or so then goes off (assuming you have closed the door) Tunes67 Yes, that's right. A nice feature, too, I must say. As for the fan, it only comes on if the temperature gets up to a certain po...

Mine was doing that too, but it turned out I'd just run out of transmission fluid.

On the off-chance that this is the problem, check the transmission fluid dipstick, which is beside the battery (you've got to reach down a bit to get it).

I've thought about that, but I don't really have anywhere to work on it; I live in an apartment building, and the parking garage has a lot of cars coming and going.

Someday I hope to have a house with my very own garage ...

Yeah, I love the compliments I get (though it's white and damn if it isn't hard to keep a white car clean). On the other hand, just today I discovered a transmission fluid leak ... $300 to fix  (this one was my fault, though, I think ... took a driveway at the wrong angle and scraped the unders...

Thanks, guys. You helped my state of mind.

In spite of it all, I absolutely love this frigging car.

Appreciate the support!
