F/S: Black '92 GS--DC/Balto Area
I’m moving across the country and sadly cannot bring my MX-3, so it must go. 1992 GS, black. 140K miles. 1.8 L stock V-6 runs strong. Drives/handles well. Aftermarket intake (stock airbox replaced with K&N style filter by PO so I don’t have the stock parts). Kenwood AM/FM cassette with detachable ...

FS: free-flow ss muffler/ DC-Baltimore only
Attn: DC/Baltimore area MXer's. I must sell my ANSA polished stainless steel muffler, a very nice straight-through design.(Girlfriend refused to travel in car when it was installed). Yes, its loud, but sounds incredible at high rpm with none of that ricey 4-banger rasp (Miata guys asked me, What ...

Re: Buying a MX-3, good deal??
Sorry to be such a cynic, but I would be very suspicious of anyone who buys a performance vehicle and then claims one month later he can't afford the gas (and wants a few hundred dollars more than he paid for the car to boot! He would not have shelled out for repairs if he could not even buy gas ...

Re: rattles and creaks
My rear hatch used to rattle a lot too--drove me crazy! Check the catch for the hatch lock, it is adjustable. I moved mine down a little, effectively tighting the connection, and the problem was solved. Good luck. Those rattles can be annoying as hell.

Re: ANSA mufflers
Yeah, I had an ansa ss universal dual-outlet "muffler" (ha!) until just a few days ago. Be warned, its loud as hell (VERY boomy) below about 4k rpm, then screams like a beast. Probably sounds great on a track. I replaced the stock resonator with a 24" straight louvered-core glasspack to try to cut ...

Re: mechanic in DC/MD?
Thanks for the suggestions. I decided to go ahead and tow it this morning. My regular shop said there "was no pulse to the fuel injectors" and that it was something to do with the computer. They said they couldn't deal with it and recommended I take it to the dealer--so I (gulp) did. Of course I'm ...

mechanic in DC/MD?
When I came home from an 8-day vacation a few days ago, my '92 GS wouldn't start. It cranks healthy, but won't catch at all. I've spent hours looking at all major systems and can't find the problem (plugs, wires, cap/rotor, fuel filter, timing chain are all new, there's gas and the fuel pump whirs ...

Re: idle just went kapoot
The previous owner modified the intake. He only added a cone filter after removing the stock plumbing so its not a true cold air set up. Temporarily I've put in a cheapo "snorkel" system routing cold air from below, as well as a heat shield (an aluminum plate from the Home Depot a/c section) so the ...

Re: idle just went kapoot
OK, thanks--I tried to reset the idle with the ten/grn pins jumped and the engine warm. No luck. Then I tried again and reset the ECU--still no improvement. No codes are appearing (in fact, CEL doesn't light up at all--I thought it should briefly light up, then go out if no codes are present).<p>I ...

idle just went kapoot
I finally got the idle jinx too. After a burst of hard acceleration to merge into traffic, at the next red light I noticed the idle on my '92 GS (w/ cone filter intake)was very low and the car will sometimes stall unless I rev it. Then it is reluctant to start, but will with a good prod of my right ...

Re: Custom muffler woes
Thanks for the comments...my resonance is so bad I started wearing earplugs today! I just contacted ANSA and asked them for some technical explanation/advice--I'll let you all know what they say.

Re: Sunroof problems ....
Mine's a little balky too, even after a pretty good cleaning of the rails and new grease (you'll need something thin to scrape all the gunk).<p>Also, when I shut the door, it noticeably "pops" up a bit, as if it weren't tightly shut. Is this common?

Custom muffler woes
OK, so I decided to replace my stock muffler with something more interesting, a stainless ANSA free flow model(2.25 inlet, dual 3" exits). The rest of the exhaust is stock on my '92 GS. It sounds great at idle and above 3k, but at low rpm there is an incredible mind-numbing resonating boom that is ...

Thanks, I'll check out magnaflow too. For a brief tech explanation on the Supertrapp, see racepartswholesale.com (click "Supertrapp" on left menu, then "Technical Information."<p>BTY, my Z is pretty mild--no engine mods but lowered/Tokico shocks, urethane bushings, 2.5" exhaust(no cat), K&N filter ...

Supertrapp?
I'm considering an exhaust mod for my '92 GS (its now stock). I'd like something different than the typical Civic crowd. And the Pacesetter looks too much like the Daytona exhaust on my '76 280Z. Anyone out there have a Supertrapp muffler? I like the fact they are adjustable in terms of loudness ...
