When I came home from an 8-day vacation a few days ago, my '92 GS wouldn't start. It cranks healthy, but won't catch at all. I've spent hours looking at all major systems and can't find the problem (plugs, wires, cap/rotor, fuel filter, timing chain are all new, there's gas and the fuel pump whirs when I crank it). So I've decided to call AAA. Can anyone out there recommend a good mechanic in the northern suburbs of DC (I live in College Park)?
Thanks!

Re: mechanic in DC/MD?
did you test spark?
perhaps the timing belt snapped?
Also, if it was sitting so long, maybe the battery isn't putting out enough amps to get the starter turning quick enough. This has happened to me before. Try to jumpstart it. Also, hook a timing light up to each plug wire to see if its firing. If that doesn't work, check for loose connections on the VAF, fuel rail, distributor, etc.

Re: mechanic in DC/MD?
Thanks for the suggestions. I decided to go ahead and tow it this morning. My regular shop said there "was no pulse to the fuel injectors" and that it was something to do with the computer. They said they couldn't deal with it and recommended I take it to the dealer--so I (gulp) did. Of course I'm expecting a huge bill (they charge $85/hr labor!), but maybe the gods will look favorably upon me and the problem will be minor. I'll keep my fingers crossed....
