Are All Gaskets Created Equally?

i need to replace my valve cover gaskets and i was wondering if there are some gaskets/gasket sets that are better than others.. and where i could get them?

or are OEM gaskets just as good as anything else i'm going to be able to hunt down for a K8?

hahahahah agreed... well i plan on doing all the work to my car sometime in early september to october (the valve cover gasket replacement, the timing belt/water pump and clutch replacement)- so anytime in september would be fine and the labour day long weekend is actually not too bad for me and Kev...

okay so i have the same old problem - oil filling in the spark plug wells #5, and i little in #1 (the back right and left cylinders) so i am going to need to replace the valve cover gasket(s) and i might as well replace the front one while i'm at it - not to mention switching to a thicker synth oil ...

i think they're about 200$USD at corksport and i believe some of the members are going down there for the show and shine? it could save you the cost of shipping and duty/tax if they'd be willing to bring them back for you? that is to say if you hadn't already planned on going. thing to remember thou...

talking with ianL (from the uk who has all the ecu pinouts and such) it sounds like getting an ecu/vaf/klde combo that will work in a 96 is going to be far too complicated so i've decided i'd rather have a well running k8 tham a kinda sorta maybe rewired OBDII de... the ecu pinouts for the KLC9 (the...

i've got a torque wrench AND i need to put my ACT clutch in too.. lol... too bad you're in vancouver - but who knows - with the money it would save me in labour i'd be more than willing to come over there and do the work for a weekend as i have lots of friends in van i could stay with if need be... ...

check the rear window washer bottle... mine rattled terribly until i wrapped it with a towel and placed it back snug in the space where it sits..

hey your2slow.. couldn't help but notice you've dropped a KLZE into an OBD-II 96 GS... care to share what setup you used to make it work? (ecu/vaf/extra goodies)

if you're going through that much oil, check to be sure that your plugs aren't fouled with oil.. that will certainly cause the engine to misfire

omg. i meant MTX.. not atx. duh. sorry. thanks for the reply ianl.. i'll see what i can get my hands on and give you a report when i know more one more thing - a problem that i can see with using the millenia ecu is i'm guess almost all 1996 millenia were ATX and doesn't the millenia use a very diff...
