What I'd do
I'd get rid of the nutless 1.6L for sure. Seriously my motorcycle has more horsepower, it's rediculous. I'd drop in a 1.8 or a 2.5. Then I'd probably get a turbo and intake. Dual exhaust since I have a V6 now. Paint it, I hate teal, so I'd repaint it maroon/red or maybe purple. Chrome and low pros. ...

I had the same problem, I used a window ice scrapped to wedge the lever open while I pulled the hatch open. The struts are just bad

brake rpm
I don't think the increase of rpm when you brake has anything to do with the engine light. My rpms increase when i brake, turn on the AC, ect. it's just because it is a nutless car.
