This might be a silly question, but Why would you want to fill in your motor mounts. How does it help the way the engine or car runs.

There are several possiblities. Bad gas being one or them. Vacuum leak is another possiblity and I would check and clean the TB. There is a idle control screw on the throttle Body that you might be able to adjust that might keep the idle higher when stopped. Good Luck

If the gas mileage was better on the return trip, my guess is that you cleaned the engine out on the trip up to GA.. If you haven't been doing highway driving for some time, you could of had carbon build up in the engine, build up in the convertor and the injectors might have been a little clogged. ...

I never even thought about how many miles per gal. I got until I read this post, so today when I had to take a 500 mile trip to check inot buying another car, I decided to take some readings. The best I got was 6.5 gals. of gas for 220 miles. That figures to 33.8 MPG expressway driving. I was very i...

I appreciate the response and this site and I did find that during my search, but I remember reading months ago about a fairly easy modification that can be done to the cam friction gear to quite it down. I don't want to replace the gear, I just want an easy mod. to make the engine quiter.

How to modify the cam friction gear

Can anyone explain to me how to modify the cam friction gear to quite the engine noise. I've done several searches and only come up with, that you can quite the engine with a modification of the cam engine gear. If you can explain "How to do it" or the site I can go to, to find the informa...

I must have gotten the engine noises confused, but thanks for the replies, cause it was the "cam friction gear" noise that I was trying to find "how to fix". I did several searches and can not find any information on How to fix that noise. If anyone could direct me to the site th...

How do you determine upper engine noise

I think I know the 2 areas of the engine that cause the historial Mazda engine noise, lifters and something that can be fixed by adding spacers from the oil pan. How do you determine which area is causing the noise. I've used the full synthetic oil with a new filter and it did quite it down, but I s...

HEI power tower

I plan on doing the HEI disty conversion as a precaution and I've read over the posts on how it's done, but I have one question. The power tower that is drilled into the cap, is there some kind to metal in the top of the cap that the tower makes contact with so the spark will be distributed to the p...

Just a word of caution. If you have a high mileage engine, you might want to reconsider the engine flush and maybe just add the synthetic oil only. I've read on my different car forums, that flushing a high mileage engine can cause more problems then it solves. Just a word of caution. My 93 MX3 has ...

Thanks for the replies. I did the oil change thing and switched to semi-synthetic oil and it did seem to quite it a little. I might in the future look into the Mazda flush, but my main concern was doing any damage to the engine and you guys/girls reassured that it should be O.K. Thanks

The dogleg is the part of the front fender that's behind the wheel closest to the door, I may be incorrect with the term, but if you open the door and look at the backside of the fender closest to the door is the area that I'm talking about. It just seems to collect, mud, dirt and clogs the drain ar...

Upper engine noise

I've read several posts on the upper engine tapping noise, but I just need some reassurance. My engine runs great, but it does seem to be a little loud from the top area. Just so I have this correct, the noise is normal on some MX3s and it shouldn't hurt the engine to just keep driving it or is ther...

Mud and dirt in dog leg will cause rust

I'm sure this post would benefit all MX3s, but I do have the V6, so I posted it here. I've owned my MX3 for about 6 months and have taken great care of it since I bought it. Unfortunately, today I was opening the hood and with the door open I noticed some leaves inside the dog leg of the front fende...

It sounds electrical to me. Maybe the distributor or lose wire. Check to see if it has a code. Intermitent electrical problems can be very difficult to track down. Good Luck
