I think I am going to stick with the SOHC 1.8 from the protege DX. If I go with the bp DOHC I am going to shred my tranny. I had a long talk with the tech guy at importperformance.com. He was very helpful. He told me that they could make that 1.8 into a 2.0L engine too with custom forged 10:1 comp pistons. He wanted me to send them the block with crank and rods and they will bore it out and put sleeves into the cyl. to ...

I was told that the bp DOHC totally falls on its face without the VICS.

THere is a couple things that some of you are not thinking about. Much of the money I am spending is money that would need to be spent on any engine I put in this car (Exhaust, cold air, ported heads etc.) So buying another engine and swaping it would be additional $$ to what I am already spending. ...

Javier - Your SOHC pulley must be a different model number. I know that this one will not fit on my SOHC. I already checked. It has different belt types.

I did think about most of this stuff before I started. The problem is that I have limited experience and skills under the hood. I can basically take things apart and put them back together the way they were. Turbos are over my head. Even DOHC swaps require running new wires (VICS) and new wiring har...

atlantamx3 - I don't know how that could be right. Gude Performance swears they have dyno tested and got + 40 with just their mods alone. I am too far into this to stop now. I will be interested to see how it turns out.
