I was actually running an American ECU with a JE50 on my ZE for a week or so before i remembered I had to swap the VAF. It seemed to work fine. This is correct only in the upper (i think at 6000) RPM-RANGE the KL02 ECU used with JE50 is running lean ! I was running this setup on my ZE for a while.

KL-DE + KL02 (VAF) + KL01/KL02/KL05 ECU

KL02 looks like the JE50 has the same connector but sends other readings voltage-vise.

Did you swap your disty from the K8 ?
If not, do so! the ZE disty has other firing seqence afaik!
