Re: Lol, g series transmissions don't like 300whp :)
HP doesn't kill your gear is the torque.
The ones from a G series diesel gearbox will survive with 268ft/lb torque day in and day out with a full new car 100,000km warranty.

Re: tallest fifth gear, and synchros
Looking at the factory FWD MTX manual you already have the tallest 5th gear available for that tranny. Your only real options is to swap out the whole tranny either to a F25M-R from some '95 european model with a BP-DE final drive ratio is 3.850:1. The '90-94 Protege or '90-91 Canadian 323 LX with t...

Re: MPH at 3,000rpm in all gears in a Probe/ 626 transmission?
Unfortunately I don't have any Ford factory documentation for the Probe GT and no longer have contact with the cousin of the guy that was head of technical training for FWD drivetrains for Ford Canada that I could get info from. I believe that the PGT all had the 4.388 but specs published in an issu...

Re: 93 Eunos 30x jerks in 1st and 2nd gear please HELP
I had similar problems years ago. Actually I would check the catalytic converter. Sounds similar to the symtoms of a clogged cat. Would Idle and cruise fine but jerk at lower speed just off idle.

[quote="wytbishop Did you ever build this transmission? How did you acheive that final drive? Where did you source 1st and 2nd gear?[/quote] I built 2 of them, One with a 4 cyl bellhousing flange and the other with a V-6 bellhousing flange. The final drive ratio is a stock Mazda OE ratio not us...

Re: Same as escort?
91-94 Escort are almost identical chassis wise. Things like the rear seatbelt retractor mount in different places. Roof line is the obvious difference. You may have to adjust the angle of the rear kickouts and possible the the roof hoop. Since the Sparco 10 point kit in the early '90s was the only b...

Re: MPH at 3,000rpm in all gears in a Probe/ 626 transmission?
Here's some numbers from a spreadsheet I created when I started working on my "Frankenstein" tranny project a few years ago just changed the rpm to the once you specified. All calculations were made with a tire diameter of 23.7" MX-3 4.388:1 final drive @3000 rpm 1st/3.307/14.58; 2nd/...

Re: CAn I change only the final drive gears?
To swap the final drive, you need to change the pinion gear and the differential. The diff is easy, but I've been told that to take a gear of a shaft is a huge pain. The gear is a shrink fit to the shaft. Where the gear is heated slipped onto the shaft then the final machining steps or completed. I...

Re: final drive..
has anyone ever done a write up on the 5th gear swap into a mx-3 trans? I just picked up a 96 mx-3 gs and I hate that its geared so low for highway cruising. 5th really needs to be taller on it. at 120km/h I am doing about 4000 rpm, way to high for highway cruising. or should I just swap in a mx-6 ...

Re: my dohc 1.5
The B5 and B6 engines are identical in every way except for the shorter stroke of the crank and the connecting rod length. The blocks and heads can have the same castings depending on the model year. The only other difference but won't make any different as far as bolt on accessories it that the '97 ...
