Post by projectzemx3 »

i looked up the bolt patterns and these rx7 wheels bolt right up to a probe, and the bolt pattern is 5 - 114

anybody ever done a five lug conversion to 5 - 114??

Search

And not really, ppl dont have the means/wants/money to do it. It can be done, but what is the use? Just to run a stock mazda rim?

Don't those guys curse at the fact that there's few choices of aftermarket rims for that pattern?

you guys cant see the point of doing this? i dont want some fancy rim - i had them and dont anymore. stock mazda rims are sick. not all stock ones but a 5 lug converted mx3 with rx7 wheels would be awesome.

i cant believe you guys dont see that.

I can see that, but is it worth the hassle? Probably not. Your gonna need to run some fun wheel spacers to so that the rims dont rub on the shock towers.

5 bolt would be cool i guess

ya it would, 4 x 100 looks weak. i have seen lots of volks and even some hondas with a 5 lug conversion, looks way better.

plus all drag cars up the stud thickness on the rear wheels to prevent them from getting sheered off, and i have seen sheered off studs....

so not only does a 5 lug look better but its defiantly stronger as well.

But then again we drive mx-3's right. :)

Honda guys love the 5 bolt cause they can do it if they want. Abit harder for us to do something like that. But I have seen some research in regards to a probe 5 bolt setup working with some minor fabing. Talk to MX3Autozam when he isnt busy shipping things out 10 months late.

I just get annoyed when people talk about 4 bolt being weak and all that.. how is that so? Did they have so much power that they broke the studs right off the hub?

I believe ARP makes wheel stud kits for us anyways.. 4- bolt replacements if you need the extra strength.
I can see how 5 bolt is cooler and what not, but not worth the effort IMHO.

If the 5 bolt conversion can be done for cheap, do it - it'd be unique. If it's going to be a PITA, why bother? Honestly though, there are at least SOME benefits for that bolt size - when you DO find rims in it, they are CHEAP because no one wants them! 5x114.3 Enkei RPF1's on ebay were 1/2 the price of the 4x100 version!

So the cost offset of the cheaper rims would be neglected by the cost of the 5-lug conversion. This would only pay itself back if you change rims often.

Funny how the amout of lugs determines on how cool a car looks...

I think it's more work than it's worth, but I guess that depends on how much your heart is set on those rims.

I know for a fact that at least one person has. Some of you may remember seeing a RWD Rotary MX-3 on ebay? That solid red one in and out with actual Supra tails, some wierd headlights, etc. It had a 5 lug conversion done. I really should have saved the pics and stats of the car.
