just traded my mx-3 in - left over parts

my mx-3 finally had to go after 3 happy years - 2 of which I had the Ze in. Still all good things come to an end at some point. I have a bunch of parts left over nothing big - just a box of bolts from the swap, and a/c compressor, standard airbox, VE50 vaf, oil filter, plug wires etc. Also the tires...

best thing is to take it on a test drive and find a fast downhill stretch - put it is 3rd at around 50 - 60 mph or so and let the engine slow the car down the hill. Near the base of hill give it full throttle whilst watching the rear view mirror - if you see any blue smoke walk from the deal or get ...

take a look at the spark plug leads - there is usually a year printed somewhere on it - failing that most plastic parts have a code molded on to it - the timing belt covers have this on the inside - they are kind of like 2 clocks but with arrows pointing to a month on one and a year on another.

mine just did a similiar sort of thing - got hot & actually burst 2 hoses - I fixed the hoses & then the heater stopped wroking - turned out the thermostat was jammed shut with a piece of rubber seal that perished from the spring in the middle - it then freed up & stuck open which meant ...

blowing bubbles!

I have had to replace the top rad. hose last week & as a precaution I did the bottom one as well. All seemed ok for 3 days now the little hoses that go to to the TB split on the way home tonight so I replaced them - they were pretty soft after 12 years I suppose. I then filled up the rad. and ra...

Re: Screwy Temperature Gauge

yes you';re right it is resistance - I found it in the Chilton's manual it's around 5 ohms at 20 degrees - I know the sensor is ok now so it must be a loose conection or chafed wire somewhere

Screwy Temperature Gauge

My temperature gauge has stopped working - does anyone know what the output voltage of the coolant sensor should be when the engine is cold and when it has warmed up?

thanks

Re: Need new strut towers

I had the same problem - you can just change the bearing inside the strut mount - they are C$25 for two at the Mazda dealer,

good luck

if it's knocking it either your crank bearings or big ends or both if you ran it with no oil for any longer than a few seconds at high speed.........

Re: KLZE Block Code Year ID?

I tried to that with mine & the dealer & Mazda Canada didn't know. The closest I could get was to look at the year on the plug wires and the date code on most of the plastic parts like the timing belt covers.
