Re: should i get a mx-3
The GS model that you're looking at is generally considered better, esp. for power & speed. There's a 2.5L engine you can drop in without too much trouble (look in the v6 faq). 0-60 is 8.3s for the stock GS (or so says the brochure).
MX-3s are good cars in general, but there's not a lot of cus...

Re: Wheel Size and Speedo
I belive the speed is read from the transmision.
As long as you use relativly low profile tires your overall diameter should be about the same. Ask about it wheen you're buing your wheels.
Speedometers are usually not to accurate. So maybe go to a track & get your car clocked so you know ho...

What kind of metal is it? how lazy do you wanna be? how dangerous a chemical do you wanna work with?
If it's not aluminium then jewlery polish should work. Especially stuff that you use with aluminium foil & then throw away the foil.
Elbow grease is probably safest, but not so fun!

Re: performance parts and gains help
Chris is right about the general point.
I have to make some comments though.
1. energy stored in a rotating object has nothing to do with g, it is equal to Inertial moment times rotational velocity squared. K=Iv^2.
Inirtia is equal to the sum of the mass times it's distance from the axis o...

Re: 90% Highway setup
Cost. the ZX2s are less than 250$ with all that stuff for all four wheels. You indicated money was an issue, and these are the best for the money.
Get the mazdaspeeds if you can afford them by all means. They're adjustable, so it'll probably fit your needs for performance.

Yes, do a search in this forum. There's a website that has all the info on it. Here's what youll need:
1. ZX2 struts
2. ZX2 thrust bearings
3. You can dremel your MX-3 upper spring pearches, or get ZX2 spring pearches
4. Camber bolts (those who've done this mod on the MX-3 have noticed ...

Re: Boston Public Street Racing
There's a track that's pretty close to me 15min or so, and other tracks in the general area as well. It DOESN'T keep people from street racing much. Even when someone in my neighboor hood got killed I still see a lot of people spoiling for a race. I despise hearing the eclipse that drives around my ...

Re: Installing a computer in your car
Have you looked at switching power supplies to go directly from battery voltage to your system power? It might be cheaper, deffinatly more efficient....
Also, Maxtor hard drives are good & all (I used to work for them), but it's probably not going to last if you drive your car with it in (ON o...

Re: 90% Highway setup
OK, so JUST struts vs. good springs? WOW, it seems like you'd run into handeling problems with too stiff a set up (other than drag). Just how much stiffer do people try to go for racing?

Re: 90% Highway setup
I've got the zx2's with stock springs. It's a little rougher, but not too bad (my wife doesn't even complain much). I don't think you could get struts alone that would make your ride seem as harsh as if it were droped with good springs.
Coilovers might be a good option if you don't mind the stiffn...

Re: Where to get CAMBER BOLTS?
You can probably find a shop that sells high grade=12.9 metric bolts. I belive 10mm give you almost 3 degrees of rotation per wheel. This route cost me less than buying bolts from a dealer & was faster too.
