Did you try the 4cyl Faqs? 90% of the info you need is there.
The B6T is the easiest and cheapest swap. Other than that, all your answers are in the FAQs.

1.this is easier than the BPTb6t faq
2. depends on boost, but b6t faq
3. depends on how much money you have, how good a mechanic you or your shop are & what further mods.
4. b6t faq
5. depends on what other stuff you transfer (drive train, etc.)
6. If you're gonna race you'll probably want the protege lx tranny. (Look at the faqs & then search using approprate keywords like transmision, LSD, etc.
What you can do to get a lot of info on something is search the entire BB, by making the appropreate selection in the forums to search feild.
If you wan't big HP gains & 'easy' swaps, get a GS.
Also if you made descriptive (about what you want) subject headings, you'll probably get better advice.
Do a search in this forum on B6T when your all done with that. Buy the book maximum boost & read it. Read the posts of everyone whos got a boosted mx. Buy the book maximum boost & read it.
It's much less expensive to find out how to do it right than to blow up an engine.
