Re: Engine Swap Questions??
i'm sorry, but an increase in only 15hp and 13 ft-lbs does not constitute "okish" performance. for the trouble of putting the motor in, it's just not worth it IMO. being that he has a sohc, the bp seems to be a much more reasonable choice, which would bring "okish" performance. t...

Re: Engine Swap Questions??
your car, your choice. i ask one question though. why would you go from one crappy motor to another crappy motor?

Re: What Gaskets am I'm goin have to get?
some people replce the cam seals too.
also look into replacing all the belts. depending on the mileage of the current one, look into the water pump as well.

Re: colder thermostat
there are colder thermostats out there. you need a thermostat because the motor is designed to run at a certain temp. w/o the thermostat, it would run too cold. plus your heater would suck.

Re: BPT wont start
if i remember correctly, the '93 tps is 3wire and the bpt is 4wire. could be wrong though, it's been a while.

Re: BPT wont start
so you're using a '93 harness? are you using a '93 TPS? if it's the factory mx3 harness, you shouldn't need to cut any wires. also check the position of the disty. make sure the motor is set at TDC, and try to get the rotor button as close as you can to being over the #1 plug. this will help make su...

Re: BPT wont start
the bpt will run with the b6 ecu and harness if some minor things are adjusted. i know this because i drove it like that roughly 270 miles. granted, it ran like crap, but it's possible. the car should still start up.

Re: BPT wont start
double check you have the correct firing order. corksport sucks, so double check your timing as well. if you're positive you have the correct fuel setup, it sounds like an ignition issue.
also check that you're tps is wired up correctly, and make sure you're maf is plugged in.

50-100 is reasonable for the shop manuals, depending on condition. i think i bought mine for $75, and sold them for $50ish.

Re: question about bp engine
you should replace the waterpump on either engine, so they cancel each other out. the valve cover gasket is all of $12 or so. the alt is a different story, but no promises the bp alt will last. depending on the mileage of your B6, since you have a '95, i say turbo it instead. slightly easier. if you...

Re: BPTranny/RearDisc Parts
i would think the sohc and dohc mounts are the same. if so, you don't need any moounts, just the side tranny mount bracket.

don't remember needing the rear mount. you DO need the side mount BRACKET.
