FWD vs RWD
Well I would agree that for winter driving a fwd vehicle is the way to go, that's why I have my MX, but in general, I prefer RWD. I have an old Monte SS that is in storage not because I don't like driving it in the winter but because I am trying to preserve it. To me, and this just my opinion, my Mo...

strang idling
Thanks Jschrauen for the in depth detail on the causes for this problem. Although I did not originally post this problem it caught my interest as it is my problem as well and I appreciate your insight. I bought mine a month ago and yes, I am about the 6th owner and will followup with your advice on ...

Car reccomend
I don't think that it is so bad to learn how to drive RWD as a beginner. Back in the day some of us older members had no choice on the matter and learned RWD. My sister never had that benefit and now she is driving a Monte Sport Coupe from the '80's with RWD and she hates it, 'cause she can't contro...

Okay, here is what I found with my search on this issue, and by no means am I an expert on technical problems related to MX-3's. the list includes: -temp sensors, -intake hose, -sensor connect ot ECU, -EGR, -faulty O2 sensor, -faulty water thermo sensor, -underpowered alternator, and -grounding wire...

I have the same problem. I just bought the car a few weeks ago and paid $1200 just to make the safety in repairs so I am kinda holding off on this. I have a list in the car of things I have learned form this board during a search about this problem specifically, so when I start rolling in some much ...

Road Rage
I haven't had that experience with the MX-3 yet, but I am sure it will come. I get a lot of idiots when I drive my Monte and it's a boat in comparison. I have no idea why some little cars pull out in front of me when I am driving it because I could squish them like a bug but I don't want to damage m...

Winter Driving?
That's why I bought her. I was told that they handle great in the winter and already I have noticed that the MX-3 is far more solid than my old P.O.S. '94 Cavalier that I used for my daily driver. It's funny...the MX is older than the Cavilier and is in great shape and handles awesome. I totally pla...

Thanks for asking this question!!
It has taken me over 15 years to get the nerve to try stick again. I am glad someone asked this question. So far though the MX-3 is good to beginner's. I drove my Dad's old '69 Camaro that is 4 speed way back when and it's a beast to beginners. Fun to drive cause of the big 454 in it but tough to le...

CV Joints
I just bought a MX-3 over a week ago and it's in the shop to get safetied as we speak. Not to scare you, but for 1 cv Joint to be replaced is going to cost upwards to $200. rounded off. Now if there is any luck it just needs to be greased and the hub replaced for $27.00...I am still waiting to find ...

Well, thanks for the tip and the offer. I just may take you up on it as I am new to imported cars and apprehensive about 'messin' with it. However this site is pretty informative to help newbie's like me figure this car out My old Monte is pretty simple and being that my family is big into American ...

I just found out that I need to replace a caliper, and brake pads as well. My mechanic is hoping I get lucky with the cv joint and that it just needs to be greased but he'll know better in a couple of days when he gets to my car. Worst case scenario, I am looking at about $500 in parts, which includ...

Just bought my first mx3, questions??
I just picked up a 1993 MX-3 with a 1.8 V6 with almost 300000 km on the odometer. It is a 5 speed. 1) What is the reasonable cost for replacing passenger front cv joint, gas tank, and ebrake. 2) How long before I will need to replace the engine. It is running smooth and does not appear to be burning...
