Tough Decision?

Hey all. I love my 1996 MX3 GS, but it's getting long in the tooth (213,000 kms) and has a few problems that I just don't want to spend the money on (leaky gas tank, p. steering pulley, holes in door sills, rust and anonymously dented driver's fender ). I'm looking at a 93 GS tomorrow with very low ...

What is a cat-damaging condition? Something else that's fouling the cat? Or just the cat is no good?

CEL and HOT exhaust

I've had a blinking CEL for a while now. Over winter, I changed the disty and the crank sensor. The exhaust is really hot, you can feel it in the foot wells, and recently I noticed that the trunk is red hot (melted some plastic items on the floor of the trunk).
Could it be 02 sensors? Cat?

thanks!!

Yup, it was just as you said. Removed plastic liner, removed passenger front wheel. We also loosened the bracket holding the dipstick in place, and the belt tensioner -- that made it much easier to run the new wire, with room for the sensor, through and behind as the original piece did. It fired rig...

Thanks, that gives me a good idea of what I'm up against. Fortunately... I belong to the local motorsports club who get together frequently to wrench on each other's project cars. My skills are, shall we say, less than stellar, but I can always be counted on to go on coffee runs. I think our next ge...

How hard is it to change?
I replaced the disty, assuming the CEL referred to the cam sensor, but I've still got the code. It's the same code for both, right?

I took mine to Mosport last weekend, our motorsports club had an hour of lapping during lunch at one of the race series. These little buggers handle really well. Mine is definitely underpowered - on turn 5 which is a wide sweeping uphill, I fell way behind. By the time we reached the Castrol centre ...

Yes, with corvette-looking aftermarket gills on the front fenders. Very pretty car.

I didn't speak with him, but one of my friends did. Once the sun started to go down, I stayed in the truck, safe from the bugs which were horrible.

I ALWAYS pay by money order - which I got the bank to put a stop to and got most of the money refunded.

Did he have a black mx with a KLZE swap? If so, he was behind me in the staging lanes a couple of times.

How about cap & plugs, bleed clutch & brake fluid for starters? You might want to take a look at your pads and rotors too. You could also replace your air & oil & pvc filters. (all of which are pretty easy) With any luck there's a sticker under your hood saying when the timing belt w...

Thanks for clearing that up... I've had my mx for two months and just replaced the disty since I was getting the same code. Two days later, you guessed it, CEL again. An RX7 friend has a code reader, we're going to see if the code is the same. If so, I'm assuming it must be the crank sensor instead ...

Hey, there was a Fuzzy Rider guy that was on my Dakota forum until he recently sold his truck and bought a Ram.
