Sorry to dig up old bones, but did you guys ever find a source to this running rich problem?? The reason i ask is because i have this identical problem. The dyno showed my A/F was between 12 and 10:1 on my curve neck ZE running JE-50 vaf and KL31 ecu. Was it fuel pressure regulator? O2 sensors? bad ...

The KL62 ecu definately needs a MAF (not a VAF) and it will expect to see an auto transmission or it will throw codes.

I didn't realise any K8s came with a straight neck IM. I assume its from a different car like a Eunos 500 or a 626 since it from Japan.

The engine is a ZE from a Jap Eunos 800. So i guess since its not A-spec it dosn't have a VIN plate.
Yes, i think its that embedded code i was referring too, so that won't tell me anything then hey? I was just curious of the exact year of manufacture.

Yep thats where i found those stampings, on the block just beside the tranny. It still dosn't seem to correspond with the info above. It's only 10 letters long and the last one (10th one) is an 'L'??

Where is this engine 'VIN' number located on the block? The only stampings i've found, other than the serial number, is a stamping containing letters, ie: BCB CBB... etc. and close by that two circular dials, one with a number and the other with a letter??? Is that it?

Check your cat converter, might be plugged up. Compression test also might give you an idea where your lost power might be going.

I think the 'thing' you are referring to (as mentioned above) is the fresh air breather for the EGR, mounted to the side of the stock air box. Turning the top of it will do nothing as its like a filter that can be pulled off. That won't affect your idle. For idle, look at the idle control screw and ...

I swapped in the 110amp alt with my ZE swap and it is definately a 12V signal going to the IG terminal. I had it verified by an auto electrician first just to be sure. I used the 12V ignition signal going to the disty (the orange wire from memory?) just tapped the wire and then trailed it along the ...

Sounds like a vacuum leak. I had the same problem not long after my swap. A small vacuum hose had come off around the back of the manifold going to the actuator for the charcole canister (mounted on the firewall). Not saying its going to be the same hose, but sounds like a vacuum leak somewhere.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but i've got a ZE and have gone through 2 kl-01 disty's (K8 ones) in the last week!! Coils went bad on both of them! My ZE came from a eunos800 with a kf-34 disty attached which i assume works ok. Anyone know how i can MAKE it work on our cars? I think there's a differenc...

Might be an idea to check your radiator cap (the pressure cap going to the overflow container. I had a similar problem and it turned out it was a dodgey pressure cap not keeping the pressure in the system, therefore all the water was being pushed out of the engine into the overflow. You'll need to d...
