Re: Vecia's 1994 MX-3: UPDATE - Still Having Idle Issues...

Just a quick note about the timing mark jumping around, this is fairly normal. The ECU is constantly making adjustments to your timing as the engine is running. If you goose the throttle while your timing light is on the mark, you should see the mark smooth out its movements and move in the advance ...

Re: V6 fuel mileage

I'll post up my K8 mpg as well. 24-25 city 32 Hiway (at 60 mph). I am running stock sized 15" Falken 912 tires at 32 psi. I have a 3" internal diameter CAI that I custom made and I am running RR racing ceramic coated headers into a stock exhaust minus the resonator. I know most will laugh ...

Re: Tunes67 - 92 MX-3 GS

I will be honest here, and yeah, Josh and Mooneggs will probably say I am way too picky when I say this, but the paint job is really a 10 foot car. From 10 feet away, its freaking awesome, when you get close to it.. you might feel more like I do in that I have learned that its pretty much impossible...

Re: Tunes67 - 92 MX-3 GS

Sorry on the RS, I sold it a bit over a year ago.. too its credit.. I paid $1600 for that car and even though I spent a lot repairing and updating the maintenance of that car.. I was able to sell it for $1700. First car I have ever owned that I was able to get more for it when I sold it than I origi...

Re: Tunes67 - 92 MX-3 GS

Well I am finally updating this worklog. The car is now painted with shaved door handles and shaved antenna. I would have posted pics here but when I preview the pics the car looks almost pink.. dunno why it tints the pics.. so I posted pics up on the MX-3.com facebook page. I have all the goodies o...

Re: won't start after changing distrbutor cap and rotor

If your plug wires are really that old.. you probably have arcing to ground at various cracks in the wires (these cracks arent always visibile to inspection either) this will result in constant misfiring and would explain the loss in power and the rough idle. Easy to check for.. wait till night time...

Looking to install....

Door poppers.. I am sure someone has done this.. what kits work the best? And before you ask Mooneggs... yes.. the GS is getting painted ;) The guy that is doing it said he would shave the antenna and door handles at no additional labor charge to me so I am all over this deal. But I would prefer to ...

Re: need help asap please

Check that the main battery connection from the alternator and make sure its properly attached on the alternator. Since they supposedly changed the alternator at the shop, its possible they either didnt connect the cable or didnt get the nut tight. Either case would result in the battery not getting...

Re: clock doesnt stay set after engine is turned off

I had this symptom when I first got my GS running.. My was a combo of 2 issues. One was a short in the gauge cluster. Cleaned up some corrosion on the backside element traces. (Dunno what else to call that thing LOL) Replaced all the bulbs and that seemed to take care of getting the cluster working ...

Re: Dropping idle...

More likely you need to clean your Throttle Body and possibly your intake as well. Check to see if they are all gummed up with oil residue and go from there.

Re: Should I bother replacing my valve cover gaskets???

I am in agreement with replacing the gaskets. You can do it yourself its not that hard. Just a few more bolts and a couple more gaskets and an extra couple of hours. Taking digital pics as you go is a great idea. Not a bad idea to bag & label your bolts as well. Taping & numbering vacuum lin...
