kl and 5spd swap into a auto I4 car?

Post by white94pgt »

i have a 94 pgt right now and i want to put my turbo kl into a mx3. i think i found a good donor cra, but its a I4 with a auto trans. can i use the clutch assibily and shifter and all of that good stuff from my probe in the mx3? and can i use the probe axles? beside that i know i have to get mx3 v6 motor mounts, but are the I4 and V6 crossmembers the same? wiring isnt going to be a problem, i will just use the megasquirt and probe wiring harness.

thanks in advance for any help. a turbo kl in a mx3 is really going to be fun to drive!

my suggestion is a bp in a sohc is easier...the I4sohc to KL is everything fromt the firewall back has to be changed even the harness.
It can be done

You'd be much better off with a GS as a donor car. As thats where all the swap parts come from....Nothing from the Probe, other than the motor/trans and ECU can be used.

nope and nope.

shifter parts fit, but won't shift properly and bind up.

The axles are too long, won't fit.

Not sure on the pedals, but i'd guess no.

ur not that bad off with the rs, u will just need the gs mounts/ linkage/pedals/harness/crossmember/axles. depending on how lucky u get thats all junkyard stuff. i own a 4cyl gs, and put in a few kls in rs's.. its not as hard as some make it seem.
