is it alright to just pop open the thermostat housing to replace the thermo without emptyin all the rad fluid, i relieze some will come out, but i dont feel like drainning everything.

i have a spare thermostat layin around, so i'll change it yet again, this is the 4th thermostat ive changed in less then a year. frig.

i tried it on both settings...same results... it slowly lost heat, so i dropped it to 4th gear, doing 90 km/h, then it re-gained heat to normal running temp, so i went back into 5th and it was fine again...this has happend a few times to me. the car started up fine today and ran fine, but theres obv...

losing heat on highways

car warms up fine

after i reach 100km/h my car has been losing some heat...any one have any ideas?

i got a new water pump/thermostat/timing belt done a couple months ago.

how do i get rid of air in my cooling system.... i know theres some in there.... i gotta replace my thermostat anyways, so knowing this would be helpful

i think we've all had similar problems to this. I would suggest checking your grounds if u havent yet. i found the ground coming out of my tranny was loose. i actually pulled it right out very easily. I have it pushed in as far as i could get it until i have a chance to fix it. but when it comes out...

the sensor has the green plastic on it (water thermo) between the 1st and 2nd injector (on the RS 1.6 engine...mine) its not the black one on the thermostat housing. i added a extra ground wire to my tranny hoping that might do it, but no luck, i was bouncing at the traffic lights again. could it ju...
