how do i get rid of air in my cooling system.... i know theres some in there.... i gotta replace my thermostat anyways, so knowing this would be helpful

one way i have used before - keep the engine running with the radiator cap open and keep adding coolant very slowly until you see it drain into the overflow reservoir. Wait for a minute or so and the you would see the coolant bubbling near the cap and then the level would go low - add some more coolant and repeat the process until the coolant level does not change. I dont know if its valid but it did get rid of the air pockets in my engine.

another way is let it run for a bit to warm and open things up and then twist your cap to release pressure, not taking it off. then squeeze the radiator hose on the driver side of the engine bay.

That's how I got rid of mine =)

How do you tell If you have Air in your cooling system ? Im having some issues with mine..... New water pump, thermostat. Car still seems to have thermostat sticking... Takes forever to warm up.

Get a 'Fail Safe' thermostat. Pay the extra 3 bucks for durability.

You get air in the system all sors of ways, changing coolant, changing thermos, water pumps stuff like that and if you don't get it out, it could cause lack of heat if it made it down to the heater core or could cause severe cooling issues if air locked in the right places.
