Just an update - I had to pull the engine to get big enough swings with my BFH. About 3 big whacks after setting the chisel, and she was out.

Had some damage on the tip though, not sure how that happened (possibly from the drift punch earlier?)

Sure glad I didnt pay a shop to do this!

The punch didn't work because after I remove the passenger CV joint, there's a big pin going across the hole. only about 5mm gap between the side of the pin and the driver side.

I've used 3 BFH's, and it's getting to the point where I'm scared I'm going to crack my housing.

I'm trying to replace my driver side C/V joint. I've fought this thing for 3 straight days trying to get it out. I've tried a chisel between the inboard joint and the transmission housing, I've tried drilling a hole in the side of the joint, and put a shackle with a slide hammer, I've tried removing ...

Woot, got it. I didn't realize that was a check valve on the back!

I've got a 93 RS with the B6 SOHC engine. I've got to replace one of my rocker arms (with the hydraulic lash adjusters). Is it possible to replace them individually, or do I need to buy a complete set?

Only one fails to adjust itself.


Anyone know where I can get them? OEM is fine.

Are aftermarket resonator's common? Should my local muffler shop have one in stock?

best/easiest way I've found is just to remove the belts, and pop off that engine mount on the passenger side. Then you can take off the timing cover and easily access the water pump.

My OEM "pre-muffler" (the one under the center console) has a big hole in it.

Should I get the muffler shop to remove it and straight pipe it or should it be replaced with something?

Stock RS, Flowmaster 2-chamber at the tip. (that may be going too)

I was tracing a trans fluid leak on my driveway and noticed that my RS has an aftermarket transmisison cooler that the transmission lines run to instead of into the radiator like I think it should...

SHould the lines run into the stock radiator?

I belive my lines that run to that cooler are ...

I was in the process of replacing my ECU temp sensor, on the intake, and noticed inside the plenum:

It looks like this is broken - if someone's got one lying ...

Is there a guide somewhere on how to set these things?

Or at least a pinout so I can manually open and close it while I'm cleaning

I used to have what seems like the same issue.

Shortly after I got the car, I had idling problems while stationary, while in gear, anytime.
This was due to the air intake tube. Check that.

I sealed up my vacuum leaks pretty good, but I was still having idle issues WHEN IN GEAR, but not when in ...

I know this isnt related to the actual problem but it's a symptom that could help us diagnose..

I've noticed that while the engine's doing it's surge thing, if I turn on the A/C( compressor kicks on and the idle-up solenoid bumps up)

the surge goes away!..

The surge comes and goes. It's more prominent while in neutral, but it does it in Drive too.

I replaced the engine in my '93 RS. Old one had a LOT more problems, but this wasnt one of them.

The newer motor was a complete engine, I bolted up the trans and dropped it in.

When I say I'm at WOT, I'm not sitting out of gear doing it. This is on the road in gear, for example, trying to pass someone. The engine runs fine all the way up to when it shifts, and then starts misfiring when it switches gears.
