Replacing Hydraulic Lash Adjusters

Post by fuxxy »

hey everyone!

I've got a 93 RS with the B6 SOHC engine. I've got to replace one of my rocker arms (with the hydraulic lash adjusters). Is it possible to replace them individually, or do I need to buy a complete set?

Only one fails to adjust itself.

Anyone know where I can get them? OEM is fine.

Pull it out of the head, with needle nose pliers pull the tappet out and apart. Remember which way the spring was, and clean everything with an aggressive solvent like carb or brake cleaner. immerse it in oil or ATF, push the check ball away with something pointy, and squish it until no more bubbles come out. let the check ball go again, squeeze it a few more times untill it gets rock hard. Reassemble everything, done.

there's writeups with pictures, if you search.

Woot, got it. I didn't realize that was a check valve on the back!

Thanks for the help.
