What is up with racingmazda.com??
Has anyone ordered stuff from racingmazda before? I have been trying to get a hold of someone there to order parts for my 1.8 SOHC swap and there is nobody home. I sent an email and left a message on the phone with no result. Plus half the links on their website do not work. Are they out of business...

Re: Messing around with my 1.6 SOHC - got some cheap HP
They measure from the tail pipe I assume. - yes
Do you have a catalytic converter? - yes, stock.
Any leaks in your exhaust? - I don't think so, I just had custom 2" pipes put on from the cat back and a performace, high flow muffler about 7 months ago.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Re: Messing around with my 1.6 SOHC - got some cheap HP
With my stock ecu they told me my Fuel/air was 14.5 and with the protege ecu it was 15.5. How do I get the F/A down to 13?

Re: Messing around with my 1.6 SOHC - got some cheap HP
I am happy with 79 whp with the mods that I have. My new engine is being shipped this week. I am going to dyno with every new thing I do. I worked out a deal with the dyno guy for $15 per pull. He also told me that I should try to get my fuel/air ratio under 14. Does that sound right? Does anyone kn...

Re: Messing around with my 1.6 SOHC - got some cheap HP
Well I am officially full of crap. Many of you probably knew that already but I just found out for sure. I had my car on the dyno again and I went from 75 whp with the 1.8 Protégé ECU to almost 79 whp with the stock ECU. Better air to fuel ratio too. Conclusion - straight 1.8 ecu swap is a bad idea....

Re: 95 DOHC upgrade options/ Please help me decide
Be aware - there are some wiring issues with going from a 1995 engine to an older one. I learned this the hard way when I began looking into a swap from a 1993 1.6 SOHC to a 1995 1.6 DOHC. You might have tranny compatibility issues too. There are other options besides a swap. You might want to look ...

Re: rear brake conversion
Can you post what you have found about switching the rear brakes? Especially I am interested in the list of parts that need to be replaced. I do not really care about stopping as much as looks. Drums just do not look as cool.

Re: Messing around with my 1.6 SOHC - got some cheap HP
Well I am tierd of guessing about HP. I went and put my car on a dyno over my lunch break. I got 75.8 whp and 86.6 Torque. The first 2 runs the guy had the AC on and did not notice. THe last run it was off. The car had the 1.8 SOHC ecu in for these runs. I will put the stock ECU back in and do it ag...

Re: Messing around with my 1.6 SOHC - got some cheap HP
What does it usaully cost to have your car put on a dyno? I checked into that once and I was told $100 bucks. That seemed like a lot to me so I did not have it done. I would like to get some solid numbers for these mods but I am at a loss for how to do that without having to drop a C note every time...

Re: Messing around with my 1.6 SOHC - got some cheap HP
TB = Throttle Body
Why does that not sound right to you? I asked Derrick at Cork sport and he thought it was a good idea but he suggested also using the injectors from the protege DX too. (Which I have not done yet)

Re: Anyone need a bp & tranny w/ 20,000 miles?
U-Wrench-It Auto Parts 7557 Hall Street Saint Louis, MO 63147 314-383-2333 They usually will not give much info over the phone because they have too many cars to keep checking them to see what's there but you can ask. By the way if anyone wants to go and get the engine or the tranny I have a shop ma...

THen I put a TB from a Protege LX on and agian I noticed a small difference. THen I put the 1.8 computer back on with the ...

Anyone need a bp & tranny w/ 20,000 miles?
If you live near St. Louis MO there is a Ford Escort GT 1994 with 20,000 miles on it at the "You Wrench It" salvage yard near where I live. THe tranny and engine look to be in great shape. The car was wrecked from behind. They want $125 for the engine and $50 for the tranny. It is there to...

Do me a favor - do not get rid of your MX-3
I have noticed a few things lately that have troubled me. 1. There are three Mx-3's with for sale signs on them within a few miles of my house. 2. I used to be so happy when there was an Mx3 down at the "you-Wrench-it" salvage yard. But lately there are always 2-3 there. 3. I have heard th...
