Re: Sudden Change in Fuel Economy

Thanks for the reply LJ. I was starting to think this topic was taboo or something. To answer your question regarding power drop, No there has not been any loss. I considered the bad gas scenario but I usually fill up at shell and have never had any problems with them. I will definitely run another ...

Sorry to hear about the MX, but it sounds like you didn't come away too badly. Get better soon.

Sudden Change in Fuel Economy

CEL & bad O2 sensor, can you have one w/o the other? I am stumped by the working my O2 sensor. The last time I filled the tank I noted a drastic drop if fuel economy. I normally get 35mpg, but this time around I got 24mpg. After searching through old posts it's been well noted that this is a res...

Funny brake noise

Alright this one's kind of strange. I've noticed this brake noise at a dead stop (I'm sure its there while the car is moving but too it really too muted to be noticed. Everytime I release the brake pedal while the engine is running it makes a squeak. But shut the engine off, again the step/release a...

That's a relief, but at the same time I feel like an idiot for posting this. Oh well better to have a new one anyways, who knows when it would have gone out. I'd hate to be stuck in the middle of nowhere.

Re: Whoa! That was a close one! (Interference or Not)

I was under the impression that my 93 SOHC was an interference engine. So if the belt snapped then it would have killed the engine.

Whoa! That was a close one! (Interference or Not)

You guys aren't gonna believe this. I took the car in to the shop today with 85K on the clock. You know to do a thorough checkup. My mechanic then calls me and tells me that my timing belt looks to be original and that I might want to replace it. I contacted the previous owner to confirm this, and w...

Re: 16 mpg

Dude, if the problem persists I would check the timing. My mother-in-law's Camry just had the timing belt replaced recently and those knucklheads didn't put the disty back in properly (off by a tooth). As a result the timing was way off. I'm guessing the ECU was trying to compensate as the car would...

Re: Manual?

Dude, I've got the Chilton manual and I have to say it sucks. I'd go with anything but Chilton on this car, there's just too much of the Miata/MX-6/Protege in there. I know they are all related but still I want to see more information on my car not the entire family. Hopefully the Haynes is better. ...

Re: Holy Cow This Car Rocks

Hey Clayton, just got back from a trip into the Sierras. Happy to report that the little 88hp MX is a good climber. All I had to do was drop it down into 4th and keep the revs between 3.7 - 4K RPM and it just kept going. Obviously not break-neck speeds but good enough for climbing at 60-65 mph. That...
