Re: My 1.6 16v

How many of you guys have the 'nads to consider a homebrew supercharger? At this point in time, you have one post. I doubt that you have been through our worklog section. Many of us have one-off setups, much more involved than a supercharger mod that does not exist. I don't think you have the nads ...

I dont know what your plan for the mx3 are, but i have kyb gr2 struts lowered on h&r springs and i am pretty happy with my setup. The car rides great, but upon hitting big bumps you can tell the kyb struts are only 20% stiffer than stock. Not necessarily ment for lowering springs. But if you ar...

Aftermarket strut/shock/damper query...

Okay, so I figure my front-left shock is a bit wibbly and now would be an ideal time to do the works - new shocks all around. Well, it's a fine plan, but I cannot find any supplier in the UK that I can source aftermarket shocks from. Which is a little on the irritating side. So far I see my options...

OBD ("On Board Diagnostics") is a term applied to certain electronic aspects of a car. You know when they plug your engine into a computer? That's OBD. OBDI (the I in this case being the Roman Numeral, rather than an initial) was the first evolution and differs between manufacturers. OBDI...

ok in that case tell me the weak point in a STI!! 8) Insurance (and image). Me, MX-3 V6, 7 years no claims bonus, parked on an open driveway = £300 insurance per year. My brother, Impreza WR1, 15 years no claims bonus, parked in a locked, alarmed garage = £1,200 insurance per year. Of course, you'r...

Stock-type with black covers (as with the FD RX-7).

Though of the choices offered, stock. Especially on a red one.

i havent noticed any difference running optimax, or regular unleaded, usually get around 270-280 to a tank I use the "75mph cruise" method. I frequently run a set journey of 231 miles. There's an uphill (going North) and a downhill (going South). I've collected lots of figures over the pa...

Size, shape, looks and showroom price. The car looks dinkier than it is - it's roughly 14 feet long, which is above the average on UK roads, but it looks a lot smaller. The shape makes it "cute", and blokes don't like to drive "cute" cars. The looks are like 'em or hate 'em - an...

A small update...After emptying the whole 40 litres of 98 fuel I subjectively find no performance gain and a small (coincidence?) economy boost (about 15-20 kilometers). Today I refilled with 98 again, we shall see if this was not a coincidence I agree entirely. I've run occasional experiments and ...

Hi, i dont have a Mx3 but im looking into getting one What kind of Gas mileage do you guys see? How fast is a stock MX3 GS V6 acceleration wise? How does it handle compared to a S13 (89-94) 240sx? My V6 returns an absolute high of 38mpg (Imperial) and an absolute low of 22mpg (Imperial), sitting at...

Since the Explorer already has ropey aerodynamics, opening the windows wouldn't harm them signficantly, whereas the same increase in drag coefficient for a more slippery car - like, say, the MX-3 - would have more drastic effects I think this is going to be something that can only be determined by ...

I will add on: #11 Keep your windows clean. If your windows are dirty they are more likely to mist up in cold weather, meaning you'll have to put the blowers on to clear it. The more electrical load on your car, the more fuel is used. #12 Keep your car IN GEAR whilst decelerating. A modern EFi engi...

Just to add, #5 is more important than #4. Open windows will obliterate your fuel economy much more than having your aircon on, due to #1. (and #1 isn't totally true. As your speed increases, your aerodynamic drag increases by the factor of a square of the speed increase, and power required increas...
