Re: Codes 17 & 24 after KLZE swap
I'll take my car by the weekend and then decide what to do - its $24 CAD and I'll get a printout of what the gases are.<p>I appreciate your advice and will probably end up buying the proper ZE ecu at some point!<p>thanks

Re: Codes 17 & 24 after KLZE swap
I know you're right but I've got the stupid emmissions test to get through and I need the EGR to be hooked up which I don't think the KLZE ecu supports!

Codes 17 & 24 after KLZE swap
after getting everything working pretty well - I drove to work & back today and the following codes came up - 17 & 24 - the engine was working pretty hard going uphill so looking at the reasons for the codes it says 'too rich' or 'too lean'.<p>So is this only to be expected when I use the KL...

Re: KLZE starting problem
I feel really stupid - all the pain and lack of sleep for the last 7 days was - wait for it - fuel lines on backward!!! Thanks to Dewthis for the clue based on my problem. The car started up before the starter even turned the engine over once and settled down immediately just with an HLA tick for 10...

Re: VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION?
If you are really concerned - grind off or otherwise mutilate the KL lettering which is just to the side & right of the back exhaust manifold - there is no way during an MOT / yearly check anyone can tell it's not a 1.8. Also it would take an amazing insurance loss adjuster or assessor to have t...

Re: KLZE starting problem
Well I now know what it isn't after swapping the Crank sensor, throttle body complete with TPS and IAC, as these came from my working K8. Knock sensor connections seem to be ok as well.<p>I cleared the code 5 I got yesterday and it hasn't come back again. <p>the engine turns over well and has good s...

KLZE starting problem
I've been trying to get my KLZE swap going the last couple of days but all it does is fire once and then shut off. The code I get is 05 - knock sensor - I followed the diagnostic for this and it all seems to check out ok - but if I clear the code and try to start again the engine fires once, stops a...

Re: CEL codes 4 & 5
No I didn't use a timing light as the engine won't run yet. So If I connect my timing light to #1 plug lead and turn the engine with the ignition on, this should give a light as #1 piston comes to TDC - right? If it doesn't I have to rotate the engine another 360 degrees to make sure #1 is about to ...

Re: CEL codes 4 & 5
That makes sense - can I just the distributor out and put the drive gear around by 180 degress?

CEL codes 4 & 5
I tried firing up my KLZE this evening and it nearly caught on the first turn. It seems to fire once or twice and that's it - it then is dead! There is a good spark from each plug lead and gas is getting through ok as the plugs are damp (not soaking wet). I checked the firing order which I hope is t...

Re: Coolant Pipe on KLZE
Sorry about the lack of detail - the pipe is a small diameter around 1/4" & is level with a large pipe 1 & 1/2" diameter. The large pipe goes into the radiator on the cooling fan side. The small pipe goes back into the thermostat housing and then back under the TB where I lose sigh...
