how to install msd power tower on distributor cap?
Trying to follow the instructions here: http://www.clubprotege.com/wil/howto/hei/index.htm but the pictures don't make it clear how to install the power tower. I think I ruined a perfectly good distributor cap. Problems I ran into: I tried to drill a small hole so the screw would make contact with t...

Re: wiring harness questions...
Out of three separate motors (a K8, a KLDE, and a KLZE), I've seen three knock sensor wires break at the connector . I don't know why this part is so prone to failure; I've seen other people make mention to it as well. Given that, if you do swap the harness, you are likely to have the same problem a...

Re: loss of power help
Could it be fuel starvation? Are you running on a full or part-full tank?

Re: Brake Booster ???
I agree with Ryan. Check fluid level; if it's low, then you probably sucked in air and need a bleed. If it's fine, then you're losing pressure somewhere. If everything else checks out then you may need a new master cylinder.

Re: 1993 Mx3 KLZE buildup for 24 hours of lemons
The last thing our car (now named "Chari" -- short for "Chariot") got before the race was a new paint job and more stickers. These pictures were taken after the race; you can see she got a little beat up from other cars being a bit too aggressive in the rain: http://farm5.static....

Re: 1993 Mx3 KLZE buildup for 24 hours of lemons
Once the heads and intake were back on, the car was running like a champ! (btw that's my turbo minivan you see in the background) http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4112/5054636316_d689d3cafc.jpg Now it was time for final race prep. Cutting the doors down to size to reduce weight and make it easier for ...

I understand you're young, and you don't have first hand experience on this. Go ask your parents, or anybody you know, who lived through the '70s. Ask them what the air was like when "the government wasn't worried" about emissions. Ask them how your air, water and soil would be, if the go...

This also works on pre-OBD2, at least for clearing the codes -- not sure what else might get cleared.Daninski wrote:Umm, that's my line. I believe that's an OBD2 thang.RS_OBD'oh_2 wrote:did you try the ecu reset? pull neg and hold the brake?

Re: 1993 Mx3 KLZE buildup for 24 hours of lemons
After dropping four intake values (cylinders 4 and 6) we needed to do something to the heads. The LeMons judges gave us a $320 residual value, leaving us $180 to fix the car. A $40 top end gasket set off ebay and two $65 junkyard cylinder heads off a 1994 Millenia (with our ZE cams) put us at $170. ...

Re: 1993 Mx3 KLZE buildup for 24 hours of lemons
When we got to the tech inspection we found out our roll cage didn't quite meet the letter of the rules (rear bar must connect directly to the frame). Fixed it with some late-night cutting and welding. One of our drivers suffered minor injuries due to slipping and falling on the welding stick, tempo...

When we got the car it was in bad shape. Two of the tires looked like this one: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4103/5054008939_57fc063182.jpg EGR was disconnected, and I'm not too keen on how the knock sensor wire is just sitting there: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4088/5054008777_614e3cd628.jpg h...

Re: Lemons MX3 Build
Nice work! Which race is this going to be entered in? Our KLZE will be racing at CMP this weekend for LeMons South Fall. I think the mx3 has a lot of potential but they don't have a great history at lemons. Good luck!

Re: KLZE sounds like wonkamobile after replacing heads
Idle problem was a vacuum leak (surprise, surprise). Engine sounds great now! Lots of low end torque but power seems to really kick in around 4500rpm (still running stock K8 ECU, so maybe VRIS isn't optimal). Also running rich but that's good, right? (runs cooler, better for producing power). Should...
