Re: Help SuperK Hone, Please!
Slightly chamfering the cylinder edge will make inserting the piston easier. You don't need to do it, if you have a good quality piston ring compressor. Personally, I don't like to chamfer my cylinders. I just oil the piston rings (and ring compressor) thoroughly, and take my time inserting each pis...

If you use the kind of tool I suggested (I just found it's called a "flex honing tool")...
You don't need the torque plate.

Re: Help SuperK Hone, Please!
I'd say, first, make sure you actually NEED to hone. I've heard of 100000 mile KL's with their original honing marks still intact. Then, if you do need to hone, I personally prefer the brush style honing tool (the one that looks like a brush, with little steel balls on the ends of the "...

Re: Crap... Not good, not good at all!
Yep, forgot that one. The bearings on the tensioners have a nasty tendency to break, which misaligns the tensioner. Check it out too.mikeinaus wrote: .more then likely a bad bearing on one of your pullies,

Try Ubuntu. Once you get to know it, you'll understand my feelings on "Windoze"...

Re: Is it possible to kill a computer with info?
Inodoro, I'm not smart enough to use Ubuntu, but I'm going to try. There is the Windows simulator, Wine, if I can't get used to the layout. Neither am I. Go to http://ubuntuforums.org/index.php , and start asking questions. For normal everyday use, Ubuntu is so much simpler than Windows that, after...

Check the pulleys. Make sure the ribs are not deformed, or cracked/missing sections. Also, make sure they're properly aligned. If everything is ok, just get a high quality replacement (Dayco or Gatorgrip are the best I know), and keep the receipt. IIRC, Dayco has a 3 year warranty.

Re: Is it possible to kill a computer with info?
A failed flash can freeze your processor, but it won't kill it. For what you say, that sounds a lot like a hardware problem to me, that may have gotten worse when you connected the laptop to it, not because of the data transfer, but maybe because of a power leak on either direction, or a bad connect...

Take the belt off, and start the car. If the noise is gone, you got lucky. If it's still there, I'd open the oil pan and check all the bearing cap bolts (main and connecting rod), and, if they're all good, I'd check all the bearings.

Re: Axle Nut of Death
I'm with Romeo on this one. I've had the same problem on my Protege. Broke 4 Home Depot breaker bars in one afternoon, and ended taking it out with a chisel and sledge hammer.
Get an impact wrench. Even a 350 Ft/Lbs one would work.
Just DON'T BUY the AAP impact sockets. They're garbage.
