Re: KL home made block stiffner
I figure I have the engine all apart and it'll be a while before I swing a good deal on some forged internals might as well tighten the block up for a couple hundred bucks and call it a little insurance. I got really interested in the KL when I read it had a rod/stroke ratio of 1.86 (if I remember c...

No, but I'll have to talk to her/him!
I considered the pinning idea but I was worried that the cylinders would bulge around the pins and take a flower shape and allow lots o blow by.

Re: KL home made block stiffner
Ya, I plan on putting the KL with the Mazda Transaxle in a 914. I was planning on 400hp.
I used aluminum 6082 and had them cut with a water jet. I think I should test them thoroughly before I consider making more of them.

Re: KL home made block stiffner
I chose the KL engine because of the split block style bottom end, much stronger and stiffer than traditional caps or girdles like the VG30 (Nissan 300Z). This bottom end should be able to handle 8000rpms and an easy 15lbs of boost. The top of the block on the other hand is open, as you know, which ...

KL home made block stiffner
In case anyone was interested I've atached some pics of the block stiffner I've made. Let me know what you think good or bad.
Hmmm...?
I can't figure out how to attach pics.

Re: KLZE Transaxle vs K8DE Transaxle
It doesn't have LSD (if you turn one halfshaft the other spins in the opposite direction). I originally pulled the whole works out of a MX-3 USD that the previous owner had put the ZE in. I'm assuming the transaxle was the original. I just want to know if this is the best place to start building a t...

Re: [WTB] KJ (Millenia S) con rods
They are the forged type out of the supercharged KJ engine - right?
$140 sounds fair. I'm in Hamilton Ontario (1/2 hr South of Toronto). How should we do the exchange?
Thanks,
Rob

KLZE Transaxle vs K8DE Transaxle
I have a KLZE which I've stripped down to the block and had a machinist check everything. Now the 5spd transaxle it came with was out of a MX-3 with the K8. Does anyone know if these transaxles are the same. If not would I be better off sourcing a different transaxle? Any suggestions would be apprec...

Re: [WTB] curved ze intake manifold.
Ok, so you don't want the KLZE intake. I think your looking for maybe the KLDE or K8 intake? I'm getting a turbo made for may ZE and I need shorter simpler routing than the stock manifold and hopefully a fly by wire throttle.
