make sure to double check the wires going to the speakers. I also noticed a very small section of speaker wire that had the insulation rubbed off which was causing the deck to ground out. You're right, I did some research on Wiki and this is what I found:

"Unusually for a (relatively) modern engine, the B-series is "non-interference", meaning that breakage of its timing belt does not result in damage to valves or pistons"

Really? I'll have to take a look for myself. I had someone take a look at it for me and they said that when they looked up the timing belt it was labeled "Interference." But hopefully you're right and they were mistaken when they were looking up part numbers.

Turns out my timing belt went on me...

The B6D being an interference engine, I'm probably looking at a few bent valves and push rods as well...

At 175,000 miles I'm sad to say it but I think it's time to put the mazda out of commission.
