Alright this is my friends car.
95 Mazda MX3, has a 1.6 Dohc in it B6D.
It seems to be having issues of starting, as he says it seems as of though the starter will not make the flywheel move.
his words.
CRZYassPYRO: well I have a custom ignition, put key in, flip toggle switch, push ignition button, starter turns but doesn't engage the flywheel...
CRZYassPYRO: when I was driving home from auburn, the car just shut off like I turned my key off, when I tried jumping it (clutch) it wouldn't start
CRZYassPYRO: not clicking... the starter spins freely like the gear isn't getting thrown out to engage the flywheel
Well basically I would like some suggestions as to what that could be, or if anyone else has had the same issue.

Shameem is correct. All B series mazda engines (and K series for that matter) are NON interference engines unless modified significantly. But all stock, there is no way valves & pistons will meet without additional valve train failure. A broken valve retainer or valve spring might let a valve fall down far enough to hit the piston top. But a timing belt snapping wont result in damage to the engine. One of the reasons I consider Mazda's to be superior to Hondas.

You're right, I did some research on Wiki and this is what I found:shameem wrote:
As far as i know B6D is a NON interference engine.....
"Unusually for a (relatively) modern engine, the B-series is "non-interference", meaning that breakage of its timing belt does not result in damage to valves or pistons"
