Re: [GII] Powdercoated Suspension, Mounts & Misc
I was just wondering what kind of bake oven are you using? Easy Bake of course! http://humormeblog.beloblog.com/archives/Easy%20Bake%20Recall.JPG J/K... It's a custom built oven built by a shop owner that I bought it from. He sandwiched 2 soda machine style fridge together, welded them and added 4 ...

[GI] Powdercoated Suspension, Mounts & Misc
I'm possibly pulling my MX3 off the road, stripping it and selling the parts to pay for my project buildup. I don't want to do this though if there is not a market for the parts to go - I.E. people need to buy my stuff lol. Over the winter I will be spending a significant amount of time powdercoatin...

Re: 15"/16" Wheels, favorite tires, Speedo/Odometer calibrat
Lightweight wheels will be the best performance upgrade besides moving away from all weather tires and going to summer only / winter only tires. Seriously. 15/16 I think is more of a "looks" thing, there are pros/cons to both. A 15" wheel will not really have too much sidewall flex wi...

Re: Ryan needs a soundboard for KL build
I think the flow only matters for ultimate performance. Sure, take the extra ponies where you can get em, but for me, like you said, I will take the cleanest looking manifold out of the bunch. Also I don't think the flow numbers are off THAT much, dont think its more than like 10%? A big old turbine...

Re: Ryan needs a soundboard for KL build
That and the fact that they can't be polished is enough for me to stay away from them... Do you mean the outside or inside? I've got a project one downstairs thats starting to shine  , but acid porting is the best way to clean up the insides or so I've been told. I like the look of the cur...

Re: Ryan needs a soundboard for KL build
Ryan, It doesn't seem like you are going to meet your goals/budget on this one. $1k is not enough money to put a solid rebuild together including clutch/cams/machine work, etc. Take my advice, and pick 1 of 2 ways: 1) Standard engine rebuild. Nothing fancy, just new COPPER head gasket (really this i...

Re: Ryan needs a soundboard for KL build
Colt cams are the way to go, but to make big power N/A you need to do a bunch of work. 200whp is attainable but you won't be able to make it too much past that without some serious cash, and the costs of going turbo at that point are cheaper. Inodoro has given you some great advice and removing weig...

Re: STS Rear Turbo
I brought this topic up on probetalk a few months ago and basically got shut down/ridiculed by everyone but 1...but they're a different group of people. I am still debating trying this when I get to that stage. The ONLY thing I am concerned about is the intake location. My mx3 I am rebuilding will n...

Re: How to: Sound-deaden your whole car for under $100
Scentless = win.
If I find a cheap source for closed cell foam I will let you know. I still have a bunch of it in a box, but not enough to do my next car.
Want to know what else sound deadens?
Structural foam filled frame rails

Re: How to: Sound-deaden your whole car for under $100
I used the raammat stuff and it definitely made a difference in audio quality and sound proofing. If I were to do it again (and I probably will) I would def. use peel and seal. My only recommendation is to air the car out for a few days before you go on long trips, the asphalt smell drove me a bit n...

Re: Does anyone recognize these headers?
Standard old crappy ebay headers. Show him the ebay link and then offer $100. I'm honestly thinking of keeping my stock-style exhaust for my new buildup. Will take up less room, retain heat better and probably be quieter than the ebay headers. The biggest drawback is the poor quality of fitment of t...

Yep, for seat belts.
And mine isn't rusty, but I suppose that could be an exception with such an immaculate car Passenger seat is ABS I believe.

Re: Anyone run a 2nd resonator or muffler?
Ok, I wasn't sure you had a muffler at the end. Why 2 resonators when you could just put 1 big one on? Baffles may slow the exhaust down some but I'm convinced they quiet it a lot more than my straight through. I don't think it can be hurting your car for more than 1hp - I know I will be rethinking ...

Re: DIY mechanic shop - need your input please
There a place in Albany, NY that will be opening up or just opened that does this. Can even rent a mechanic or machinist if you don't have the skills to do custom work. Can't find the link otherwise I'd post it, it did look very cool. For those of us that are crazy enough, they'd be thinking instead...

Re: Anyone run a 2nd resonator or muffler?
I've got a "hi-flow" cat, a 22" or so cherry bomb and a magnaflow muffler at the end. Not quiet but not overly loud. I still think I'd want it a bit quieter though. I can get pics sometime over the next few days if you like. 2.25" Mandrel.
