Re: [EBAY] Rear Lights, Cam Tensioner, VAF, O2 Sensors, Manual

Also found a set of Mazda MX-3 V6 Badges. -They're on ebay now.

I also have a dizzy cap and 2 rotors and a sunroof motor. Ask if you want me to put them on.

Thanks.

[EBAY] InDash TouchScreen CarPC Factory Fit Look

I've unfortunately had to sell my MX-3. :crying: and so my Indash Touchscreen also has to go. :crying: I did post about it ages ago but then buyer changed his mind and I kept it thinking I might put it in a ford fiesta. Demo Youtube Video http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b51/heftygrooger/eba...

 Once again I've ignored good advise and the most obvious cause of the problem. (I think-not fixed just yet) I ripped out the cams and HLA's again to dismantle the HLA's. I didn't bother putting the cam belt covers back on cos it's a ball ache. When I fired it up the noise still sounded like i...

Cam Belt Tensioner Repair?

I wanted to renovate my Cam Belt Tensioner. I was hoping to find a helpful tutorial like the HLA one from SilverBullit on probetalk forum but have not yet. So I've started with pics showing how I've put it back together but I'm unsure how much oil is required. The manual states a max Force of 9810N ...

Hi all. Thanks for all the suggestions. I've finally managed to upload the film if it helps at all. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b51/heftygrooger/MX-3%20CarPC%20Install/th_Untitled.jpg Everyone that I've asked to look and listen to the engine in person says it's top end around cylinder 1. It's ...

I was wondering if I could determine whether it was rod knock or HLA tap by the frequency of the tapping. If the engine idles at 650rpm = 650/60 rps = 10.83 rps i.e. the crank shaft revolves 10.83 times every second, and the crank:cam ratio is 2:1, then the cam revolves at 5.42 rps, therefore a tick...

I've searched for every video on youtube etc for "rod knock", "piston slap", "tappet/lifter noise" and I think the noise is top end rather than rod knock which is a deeper sound and lower in the engine, am I right? (never heard it in person) I did'nt think it was piston...

I took another look at my engine at the weekend but couldn't find anything that would be causing this ticking noise! The friction gears we're both fine. Cam fine. All HLA's fine. Cam belt tensioner seemed a little weak but not letting the belt be slack. So I built it back up and started her up a rec...

I've been reading a bit more:
Could this be rod knock/top ends?
Although if it was, the noise would just increase in pitch (frequency) as I rev the engine. The noise in my situation seemed to suddenly go when reved over about 1700rpm hot or cold.

Is it worth taking off the oil pan to check?

Sorry to dig this one back up but the solution to my problem was replacing the distributor! DESPITE having tested the coil and cam sensor (to the book) in the disty I think it must have been a faulty ignition module in the disty which was causing the bad timming/miss fire. I've read that there is a ...

I can't diagnose anything until the weekend because the car is under my parents garage (2 hrs away) but I asked my dad to take a quick look at the timng belt tensioner and he said the bearing seems fine. cam friction gear spring I take it you mean the sprung 2nd...
