Re: Short Shifter
First you need to remove the shifter arm from your car (take a look into the workshop manual, it helps). Remove the necessary console panels, the shifter knob and "skirt". Then pry out the spring around the bottom of the arm with a flathead screwdriver. You also have to disassemble the bol...

Re: Short Shifter
I did it with mine: I was tired of waiting for my Pacesetter (still backorder after 2 months!). It can be done for 0$: but it is suggested you buy a stock shifter at the scrap yard for around 10$. This way if you break anything your not stuck with no shifter.

Re: I REALLY NEED SOME HELP YOU EXPERTS!
I think the tubing you are refering to goes to the resonance chamber(look into the workshop manual page F1-102). I'm not sure but I believe this component is used to reduce engine noise.

Re: clueless
A Mazda dealer should be able to tell you if the engine is the original one if you provide them the engine number and car serial number. 92-93 rs stock engines are soch, 94+ are doch.

Re: Brake Pedal Pulsing
You don`t necessarily have to change your rotors: you can have them turned if their not to worn-out(it's cheaper!).

Re: abs?and struts
If you want to know if you have abs just slam the brakes: if the wheels lock, the tires scream you don't have abs. If you slow down, no tires screaming and the brake pedal jumps under your foot, you have abs.

I know the feeling. The car seems to be gasping for air over 4500rpm, I'm installing a cone filter as soon as the weather warms up. ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Re: please help, wanna keep my mx-3, but not like this!!
Had a similar problem with my last car. Turned out the distributor cap would skip a contact when it was humid outside. WD-40 on the distributor fixed the problem till I changed the distributor. Check if you have good spark.

Re: Short Shifter
No you don't need to change your bag or knob. You can also modify your stock shifter arm to shorten it's throw. It's not too complicated (I did it myself and I'm no mecano). Look for a post on the subject on the bulletin.

I bought a shifter from a scrapyard and modified it as per your suggestions. Works great! I not too confortable with brazing so I fixed the ball with a set screw instead.

Short shifer options
I ordered a Pacesetter short shifter last november and the dealer is telling me it`s still backorder! I read somewhere in the posts that a Ford Escort short shifter from Pacesetter would fit? If so anyone knows the part#? I also read that Pacesetter has the shifter made by another cie: anyone know i...
