Re: Kakarot135's 93 MX-3 rs
Found a guy selling a '91 escort gt, car has a stock motor in it and a spare motor as well. Waiting for pictures to make sure they are both bp engines and will most likely by them if they are. Looks like a good start to 2014. Will update when I get them home.
He sent a few pictures.

Those are for sure Bps.
Buy it, try to get a deal if possible but don't get hung up assuming the engine is good. BP swap is a good upgrade to your SOHC.

Re: Kakarot135's 93 MX-3 rs
That's a pretty fair deal as long as there are enough usable parts between the 2 motors for a solid build. Depending on your budget, I would look into used import engine yards. Picked up my BP for around $300USD and it was tested for compression and had a limited warranty.
Unfortunately it didn't have alt, throttle body, etc. just a bare engine. So if you're already planning a rebuild, go for it! Seems like a fun Frankenstein project
But look them over, inside crankcase, etc. and keep your fingers crossed there isn't internal damage, ie; thrown rod, warped head, cracked block...... those could take the fun right out
GOOD LUCK!! Hope this helped

Re: Kakarot135's 93 MX-3 rs
The mx3 is tucked away for winter with my new-ish toy.
Time for some delayed maintenence.
Teaching the next generation about cars.
Valve cover off, new distributor on.
Good thing I got new plugs ans wires too.
More to come, still looking for my motor, then the real fun comes.
On the plus side this is the first time in 4 years without a check engine light for the camshaft positioning sensor.
