Window motor replacement
Hi Guys,
My passengers side window moves up reaaaalllllyyy slow.
I'm guessing one of these days it just won't move up anymore.
I found another windowmotor at a JY put i removed it with a bit of force.
Of course on my own car I want to replace it with a gentle touch
Any tips on how to change them?

Re: Window motor replacement
It depends on if it's manual or power windows.
Take the panel off, by unscrewing one screw on the outside of panel, and by handle.
Remove the plastic around the window motor track.
The window motor track will have 3 bolts holding it on the door. Manual will have an additional 3 bolts holding the door handle part.
Before taking it out, move the side window down so you can see both the screws that hold the side window on the track.
Unscrew the two screws, and take the side window out.
If powered, you'll also unplug the window motor from harness.
Then you can unbolt and take out the window motor regulator
Hope this helps.

Re: Window motor replacement
its a electrical window
So the trick is to lower the window.
Unscrew the bolts,
take out the glass.
Remove the motor
Put new motor in
Put glass back in ?

Yes, when you take the track out in the junkers, you cant move the window up and down, so you cant align the screws to the holes to stick a screwdriver in to unscrew the two that hold the side window. That's what makes it hard at the junkers, but easy at home when it's pluged in and powered.

Re: Window motor replacement
Did you test the motor before install? Just hook the two wires up to the battery(power and ground). One way rolls the window up, there other way, rolls it down. If the motor works, could be the track. Maybe the cable is stuck.

Re: Window motor replacement
I was at the junkyard today and just grabbed another one.
This one seemed to work just fine when testing it there.

Re: Window motor replacement
Yes, there are 2 screws holding the glass to the motor device.
Unscrew them, push out the bumpers at the bottem of the glass and you can lift the window out.

Re: Window motor replacement
What track do you mean mitmaks?
The rubber where the window sits in or something else?
I've replaced the motor again, with one that i tested at the JY, but still up is so much slower.

Re: Window motor replacement
The one that glass rides. Also its possible that motor you got from junkyard is no better than the one you took off

Re: Window motor replacement
The current motor worked fine with the glass in, at the junkyard.
Both up and down.
Now, in my car, it runs up (faster than my old one) but still not as fast as in the junkyard.

Re: Window motor replacement
Check to see if anything is obstructing glass travel, like maybe glass run channel (9) is out of its place, etc.

Re: Window motor replacement
I used some Teflon spray to get things smoother.
Still not superb but it will do.
Can't understand why at the JY it's so much faster than in my car
