Re: odometer help..

The sender is an electronic sensor in the transmission. It sends pulses. Pulses per unit of time is speed. Since each pulse is directly related to the turning of the cars wheels the same signal will be used to get distance. If your speedometer works then the odometer should work too. The problem mus...

Re: Help with CEL codes

Hopefully you've got this sorted, so my input unnecessary. Just in case: Once you set the TPS you don't need to return. All you are setting is the closed throttle position signal to the ECU. It is a setting that does not change regardless of the position of the idle air screw or timing. Ideally you ...

Re: [WTB] Fuel pump rubber mount.

Not sure if you need the fuel tank rubber seal (gasket) or the rubber mount that goes under the pump. Both are available at rockauto. The rubber mount that goes under the pump is included with some of the pumps. For example a $16 pump includes this rubber mount. You are probably fine without the rub...

[WTB] K-series EGR Valve

I'm looking for a good condition EGR valve from a KLDE or K-8. Let me know if you have one to sell.
Thanks, Dave

Congrats. It must feel pretty good at the end of all the hammering and cutting to get the prize (even if it is in tiny and some burnt pieces).

Re: Coolant Hose...

Definitely requires you bypass the heater core. Input and output hoses to the heater core need to be tied together. If you never needed heat one hose loop would be a permanent fix.

Re: KLDE stalling after adding oil?

It sounds like you are not getting spark and you have a distributor that has been modified to use an HEI ignition module and an external coil. If you have a modified KLDE distributor with an HEI module and an external coil then you'll need to troubleshoot that setup. I trust the distributor plugs (w...

Re: KLDE stalling after adding oil?

^ I'm with him. Spark, fuel and air (at the right moment) is what you want to troubleshoot. The oil change was just coincidence. Start with a matching ECU, VAF and distributor for the KLDE. Confirm you have spark. Then confirm you have fuel. Then check vacuum lines and air intake tubing and VAF. If ...

Re: Busted Line

The line starts at the proportioning valve that is mounted higher up in the middle of the firewall. You might be able to get to the line by removing the intake manifold and reach the proportioning valve with a stubby flare wrench. Even then it looks like a crazy tight fit. Maybe get creative and sli...

Re: 1994 Mazda MX-3 GS O2 Sensor Problem?

It sounds like you should replace the right side O2 sensor. Tip: There is a universal Denso (this is OEM brand) sensors for around $30 each through online sources (rockauto, ebay, amazon). I used Denso 234-4209 for both. The wire colors should match up. The EGR error is related to the position feedb...

Re: 1994 Mazda MX-3 GS O2 Sensor Problem?

You have bad oxygen sensors. Replace them to improve gas mileage. The codes are telling you exactly what is wrong. Code 15 is the left side oxygen sensor not sending a proper signal after the engine warmed up (specifically the signal did not exceed 0.55V 100 seconds after engine speed exceeds 1500 r...

Re: Busted Line

Are you asking about running new hard lines for your braking system? There are several ways to do this. - Buy OEM pre-made brake lines if available and affordable (haven't tried, but not likely) - For repairs of shorter lines - like from the junction block rear right side you can usually buy pre-mad...

Re: Gs fuel pump changed getting gas no start problem

Fuel flow is one way. Supply from the pump must go directly to the fuel rails (not through the regulator). The fuel pressure regulator (FPR) is actually on the return line. If you disconnect the line attached to the FPR then fuel should come out of the fuel rail NOT the fuel line. I believe you have...

Re: KL-ZE Swap Randomly Dying

I'm glad you got this to idle on its own, but think what you did is use the throttle plate stop to keep the throttle slightly opened (= your foot lightly pressing on the accelerator pedal). Either the air passage that is controlled by the idle screw is mucked up. Or possibly the original owner combi...

Re: 1992 mx3 valve stem seals

Just keep in mind that the HEI mod replaces the igniter (with the HEI module) and the coil - if you replace the coil too. It is not the same as replacing the whole unit. I'm a little suspicious that the distributor suddenly failed when you reassembled for a second time. Before you spend any money - ...
